Thank you Joey. As always, a wonderful day was followed by a really carp one but nothing can take the wonderful one away, so onwards and upwards, as they say.
I need to think about March. I haven't decided on my targetty things yet, so I suppose I have to set the first one now:- Think up some useful little tweaks that'll make my life easier and better.
- Dust my office bookshelves properly.
- Keep going with Counties 1 and 2.
Better is good enough.0 -
Ok, my targets for Marvellous March are...
1) Not to eat any of the following... butter, cake, sweets, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream, cream or desserts of any kind. (It really does help me cut back if I have to 'confess' it on here.)
2) To walk at least 10,000 steps a day 5 times a week. (I have increased the number of steps but given myself a couple of 'rest' days so that I don't overdo it.)
3) Light off by 10.30pm every night except Friday and Saturday nights.
4) No unnecessary spends on gifts for other people. For March, I have set a maximum budget of £0. (There are some birthdays and anniversaries in March but they only warrant a card.)
5) To completely spring clean the kitchen. (I'm going to try and do a couple of jobs a week until it's done.)
Ok, let's do this!!!0 -
And on that note, update for yesterday...
1) I had some butter on my toast yesterday morning.
2) Just over 8,000 steps(but I have only just changed the target
).
3) Light off at 11.00pm.
4) No spends on other people :j.
5) Oven cleaned over the last two days :j (I'm glad that job is out of the way but I still have some equally yucky jobs to do).0 -
Well done on the oven cleaning. I bake a great deal so its a job I have to do regularly and I loathe it. I currently have all the shelves soaking whilst I stir myself to do the innards. I have a huge cake to make tonight/tomorrow so the timing is right.
The fan oven looked like a bomb had hit it as I made crispy duck in it at the weekend, and I swear I wiped it all out after but it looks as if I hadn't bothered at all. The duck was worth it though especially since it was yellow stickered duck in the first place.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

We had belly pork at the weekend which is something we rarely have as I can't stand the mess it makes of the oven in order to get it crispy but as I had already decided that the oven needed cleaning, we seized the opportunity. We won't be having it for a while now though.

Not sure what all of this talk of meat will be doing to our glorious vegetarian leadereen's sensibilities. She had a proper attack of the vapours when I mentioned shellfsh just once.
I hope the Happy Pops is regaining his strength, Happy, and you're coping with all the hosptial to-ing and fro-ing.
You're already doing brilliantly, Dolphin, setting goalie things and posting daily while I'm still scratting around trying to decide what to do with myself this month and searching for my lost tardy slip. It's around here somewhere ....Better is good enough.0 -
Morning all
I'm signing up for a truly marvellous March. Well, hopefully. The odds are that it will be far fabber than Feb was. My targets are realistic but important:- Keep the finances on track
- Eat sensibly, including 5 F & V daily
- Only one small glass of wine per day
- Keep the house half-decent
Happy Pops is much the same, but the practical stuff (minor house adaptations, benefit claims, cleaner, hospital/doctor follow-ups etc) is now mostly sorted so now it's just visiting and supporting both parents while he hopefully gets better.
Honey - I hope your friend Jane is improving? And well done with developing your businessette, your work is paying off
Dolphin - I do so admire anyone who cleans their oven. We (by which I mean Mr H) embarrassingly do ours every Christmas, or earlier if it starts setting the smoke alarm off!LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3320 -
:hello: HappyNow and Honey Bear, it's great to see you both, it was a bit quiet in here yesterday.
More *healing vibes* for your dad HappyNow and for your friend Honey Bear.
HappyNow, it's definitely over a year since the oven was last properly cleaned (I do give it a quick wipe now and then) so it was well overdue. It's not perfect now (the sides could do with another going over) but I've decided life is too short to be a perfectionist so I'll settle for what I've done. I am not going to leave it as long next time .
