Hi Happy (and Gang)
I've just finished reading this thread and WOW!! :TYou're all such an inspiration. It's also a while since I laughed so much. So thank you everybody.
Mrs Happy - I hope you don't mind me sending healing thoughts for happy pops and coping ones for Clan Happy. I feel like I know you!
I love the goals you set yourselves. I'm really impressed by the achievements of the group. ( I think it's maybe more obvious when you read through them a month at a time!)
Honey Bear - cr*p appears in the Bible, so I don't see a problem myself. And I thought why not split the difference and charge yourself 50p for da*n?
HTH (Oh... 50p to Honey Bear.... I'm on my phone and can't delete these accidental smilies!!) :money::cool:A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

... dashes back in, fluttering tardy slip.
- Carry on with contacting possible outlets, a county a fortnight should be about right.
- 15 minutes a day flying five days a week.
- No sugary stuff until Easter Sunday.
- No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm.
- 5 fruit and veg a day.
- Spring clean the office - dust the shelves first.
- Electric toothbrush once a day.
- No ***ing swearing, fine of £1 a word. Had to add this back in for myself, obvs, as it turns out it's quite a profitable little sideline. *holds out hand for cash*

Morning all
I'm signing up for a truly marvellous March. Well, hopefully. The odds are that it will be far fabber than Feb was. My targets are realistic but important:- Keep the finances on track
- Eat sensibly, including 5 F & V daily
- Only one small glass of wine per day
- Keep the house half-decent
Good to see you back in the game, Happy.
Happy Pops is much the same, but the practical stuff (minor house adaptations, benefit claims, cleaner, hospital/doctor follow-ups etc) is now mostly sorted so now it's just visiting and supporting both parents while he hopefully gets better.
Having been through something similar for my parents I know how time-consuming and endless it all seems. Well done on getting it sorted.
Honey - I hope your friend Jane is improving? And well done with developing your businessette, your work is paying off
Very sadly, no. She died the day after she was admitted. We knew it was very serious but it's still shock. She was only a couple or three years older than me.
Dolphin - I do so admire anyone who cleans their oven. We (by which I mean Mr H) embarrassingly do ours every Christmas, or earlier if it starts setting the smoke alarm off!
I've found an evil chemical that I regard as miraculous. Just spread it on, leave it for a few hours (my favourite bit) and wipe the gooey gunge off. Ta da! Marvellous stuff. I tried all that bicarbonate of soda eco-friendly sandle-knitting carp for years and it just got more and more vile, so I had no choice but to go down the chemical route in the end. I now keep it semi-sparkly because I just can't resist seeing how quickly the gunge dissolves.basketcase wrote: »Hi Happy (and Gang)

Good-oh on the carp front, and because I am so stingey I'll cut back on the da*n front, then.

Not quite sure why you owe me 50p, but *kerching* and thank you kindly.
"50p to Honey Bear" was a substitute for D... erm... the D Word. (I'm trying to be MSE, so you don't catch me paying twice in 2 posts!!Mind you, can't you see it heading up the next Martin's Tips? "How to save 50p every time you open your mouth..." :rotfl:)
Ooh! and thanks for the oven cleaning tip. I'll take that pair of sandals off my needles - carefully rewinding the yarn, of course - and go straight to vile chemicals! Although probably not for a day or two...:think:A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Chemicals all the way for me. Ovenpride was my weapon of choice on this occasion.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, very sad news.0 -

Ooops, sorry, I just meant apt for joining our group as we are all a bit crazy (although I suspect the others will deny it :rotfl:).0 -

Well, as Jasper Carrott once said, "Who wants to be normal? Serial killers are 'normal'. It's what their neighbours always say"
My offspring chose the username originally.
Because I used to weave baskets. (See what they did there?)

Thanks for letting me join in. :j Your challenges were already inspiring me to think of how I could do little things to improve myself.
FINANCIAL: I’ve recently been made redundant. Thankfully I got another job almost immediately and used some of the redundancy to pay off my credit cards – so no debt. But it's less pay, I'm not far off retirement and when I think of the money I’ve wasted on repayments and interest...:o:eek:
NO MORE! I will become financially organised.
DOMESTIC: I need to get a grip and declutter/FLY Chez Basket too. (Let’s just say Honey would never be able to accuse me of being a nancy!)
ME: Thirdly, DD, having just realised that parents age and are mortal, is stressing about me “not looking after myself” and is nagging. Hence challenges 3-5!
Anyhoo, here are my targets for Marvellous March. Starting tomorrow, of course. Hopefully doable. Ish..- Organise my surplus (:rotfl:) money into 'pots'. I use Quicken for my banking, but the budgetting tool isn't great so I may explore YNAB too.
- Work on the Week's FLYzone. (1-7 March is the hall and the block stairs and landing for my floor).
- Eat a minimum of 3 F&V per day. (Let's not be too ambitious!)
- Floss my teeth - out of the habit and must get back into it
- Bed by 2230h Sunday to Thursday
A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
