Update, feeling quite smug for a change.
Money We are completely broke this month, but that's just because of bills and events, nothing has been wasted. I'm looking forward to 15th, but over the last three days I have just spent £38 on paint/rollers and £48 on essentials at Tessies. All of the £48 was on healthy stuff apart from one bottle of wine.
MyFitnessPal That's five days completed and no slips yet. Even yesterday's meal went OK. It was a self-service meal and I stuck to vegetables and a few potatoes, then when everyone had a pudding I opted just for a small ice-cream so I didn't feel left out, then left half of it because I can do that with ice-cream (unlike the chocolate fudge cake and treacle sponge that I really fancied). I'm a bit 'all or nothing' with these targets. Once I slip that's the end of it, so I'm going all in with this one because it's important to me.
1600 calories is enought to eat well and not feel hungry, but there's not much room for naughties. Every day I add a treat size box of smarties and a small glass of wine into my calculations so I have something to enjoy at the end of each day. I hope that the results will start to show within the month. I am aiming to get my waistline back and just generally feel comfier.LBM Dec 2011. A majority of the dosh was spent on the garden which I have to admit was a once off. I have decided to factor in a certain amount for the garden each month, that way he can only spend what's in there, after I have bought plants (he he).
Seeds have been purchased for veg growing next year which should help the food budget. Kind friends have also sent me plants. I was very miffed yesterday to find that the slugs have been at some clematis seedlings. They now have slug pellets round them and are in the small plant house till they recover.0 -
My plans to follow your flying regime came to a dead halt before they even started. My excuse of the day is that we've started decorating the bathroom, so it's not MY fault the whole house is in chaos. It might be totally IMMACULATE if it wasn't for that
Most of our windows are filthy, inside and out. It's on my list for this week. I rarely follow my list.
Yeah, right, if not for the decorating .... (I never, ever Fly when I'm decorating, so you're off the hook, actually.) Truth be told, the reason I am a Flylady, and I think most of the rest are, is that we would rather stick red hot needles in our eyeballs than do housework but there comes a point when even I can't stand the chaos and general mingingness any more. It's taken three years to get the place tamed and it's still chaotic, but as it took 19 years to get into that state I can't really complain. The 15 minute thing is working for me at the moment. That won't last long, and then it'll get bad again and then I'll devise another strategy to deal with it. Etc etc.Update, feeling quite smug for a change.
Good!

Wine is essential when you're decorating.

Did anyone notice? Generally, most people don't, I find.

On 1600 I'd have thought the results would show within a week! Have you set yourself an inch or pound target, or are you just going on, 'Oh, good-oh, my favourite trousers aren't cutting me in half any more'?Deleted_User wrote: »I was very miffed yesterday to find that the slugs have been at some clematis seedlings. I've given up on anything that gets slugged. We've only got a sundeck which is incredibly well protected from wind and cold weather, but as a result it can be very warm and damp. We have to grow everything in pots, but there are a few edibles slugs leave alone, like raspberries, blackcurrents and goosegogs, it seems - new this year - and herbs. My listy is growing. Strawberries are out of the question, cucumbers surfaced and got scoffed instantly, figs are fine. Our fig treelet produced six whoppers this year, so I let the blackbird have one.Better is good enough.0 -

- Five fruit and veg a day. Tomatoes, dates, more tomatoes, yellow peppers, more tomatoes, green salad, blackberries.
- 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. The 15 mins doesn't apply at the weekends, but I spent a huge amount of time on laundry yesterday, and will again today.
- Drink two glasses of water a day, on top of the 4 fruit teas and at least a pot of decaff coffee. Couldn't force the second one down again on Friday. I am defo not dehydrated - and I have decided that the nocturnal trip to the bathroom is not helping me with sleeping through one bit. Time for a rethink.

MyFitnessPal ... Once I slip that's the end of it, so I'm going all in with this one because it's important to me.
I so resonate with this ordinarily. And I have 'slipped' this week, it was my birthday in the week and I didn't want a fuss but OH bought a lovely bottle of wine and I had at least half of it on Thursday and then Friday and Saturday brought more wine, a few extra nibbles and yesterday it all dropped off the edge with a chinese curry. Now normally I would be in 'sod it' mode but I got up today, made coffee did 20 mins exercise dvd-thing, walked dog and I seem to have got it out of my system.
Obviously it would have been better not to have done it and I don't want to normalise it or I'll pretend I'm following the plan whilst actually not doing it all (been there) but hopefully I've got back on track. The sodium from yesterday's curry is not looking good on the scales however and the less said about the spring roll the better. Anyway, dog requires a walk in the sunshine so I'll do that and then polish my slightly tarnished halo!LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

That makes three of us, then, who once we've slipped believe that it negates all the good achieved so far. I think it may be a perfectionist trait, either way, I'm kicking that kind of thinking into touch. Any day where I meet any of my targets is a successful day for me now. Well done for jumping back on board, Joey, and Happy Belated Birthday while we're at it!Better is good enough.0 -

- Five fruit and veg a day. Dates, sultanas, avocado, yellow peppers, broccoli.
- 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. 15 minutes dewebbing the house which was surprisingly festooned with webs. I hadn't even noticed.
- Drink two glasses of water a day, on top of the 4 fruit teas and at least a pot of decaff coffee. Goal Change. The water thing was horrible to force myself to do and it can't have been dehydration because of the bathroom effect. I'm cutting out wheat for at least a week, maybe to the end of the month, other than a Beck's Blue or two in the evening. I'm defo not allergic to it, I don't know whether it's the culprit but I'm going to find out. Cutting out dairy a few weeks ago showed me how much of an effect that had on me and as a result I've tweaked what I eat. This may or may not be effective but at least I'll know.

. I haven't even filled the hanging baskets and troughs. We've kept the weeds down and the lawns mowed but that's the lot. The place looks very bare and unloved, but there just wasn't the money for it. Hopefully next year we will do better. What I have noticed over the last couple of years is that we now have snails. I've lived here 26 years and up until recently we have had loads of slugs but no snails, then suddenly they arrived and seem to have colonised us. Weird.

When you mentioned a couple of days ago that you'd drunk two glasses just before bed it did make me think that I must have a very small bladder, because there's no way I could cope with that!
The reason it happened was because I just can't make myself want to drink it during the day, and I was trying to avoid the slippery slope of not achieving my target. Hopeless. I might just as well throw money at gym membership and never go, just like everyone else, and have done with trying to make myself feel better!
Interesting. I think you might be right. I don't tend to think of myself as a perfectionist because I don't often stick at things long enough once they slip. Maybe that IS perfectionism though. All or nothing. The only exception in my case is the money thing - I stick to that come what may, even after the odd (holiday) blip. That's probably borne of desperation though!
The curse of perfectionism, it seems to me, is that if it can be perfect, it's better not to even attempt to do it. The result with me is that I have great ideas that never get beyond that stage because I can see how it'll all go wrong. I'm stepping outside the comfort zone and having a bash at things I can't do and they may be a bit wonky but - actually - they'll do.
No bread then?:eek: I love bread and it's one of the few areas where I can't bring myself to down-brand too. I'm obsessing over Teskie finest Sunflower and Pumpkin seed at the moment. Good luck with it anyway, hope it works for you
I love bread too, and even have a breadmaker - best Gumtree bargain ever. (They pay for themselves really quickly too if you get a secondhand one.) OH thinks it's wonderful and loves waking up to the smell of bread baking first thing in the morning and I've just stocked up on flour too, but needs must. I was going to work around going bread-and-pasta-less for Suptember but trotting down to the corner shop C0-0p the other night to get OH's favourite potato thing as a treat (£1 well spent for that particular occasion) I spied some Free From, so I don't have to go without after all. (My OH is very, very easily 'treated' which is a bit of an MSE bonus.) I'm not sure if it's working or not but I think it might be; I'm not going to be fanatical about it but I have a tendency to eat bread and pasta as my 'can't think what to make for this meal' meals, in other words, three times a day. That might be what the problem is and Suptember is the perfect time to find out.Better is good enough.0
