I've just had to pay a cancellation fee because the insurance renewed and we didn't get the letter but because the insurance companys pc says it was sent out we were told we had to pay it!

Whats to say the system is wrong or they haven't just put that on the system?

I had to pay it as they had increased the insurance by 300%

Had you arranged alternative cover with another Insurer from the renewal date?

No we didn't expect such a step increase from £8.00 a month to £26 a month i've just switched to a new insurance company for just £6 a month and the total was something like £140 less a year than Endsleigh.

It was lucky they automatically renewed the policy then, otherwise you would not have been covered for a while.

Did you start your policy with the new Insurer last year by any chance?

What happens now days is Insurers give big discounts to new customers to entice them, when the policy is due for renewal they revert to their normal premium.

You will almost certainly find an iuncrease with the Endsleigh premium when its due for renewal due to the loss of the new customer discount.

If your policy was due in May then it was lucky they did renew as otherwise you would have been without cover since May

    Hi...

Ive been scanning some of the cash-back offers for home insurance and it seems I could get between £70 - £100 !!!

My question is if I have been to an insurance site directly and registered, but then return via a cash-back site link, will I still get the cash back ?

    Any ideas ?

    M.

I got my renewal details today for my contents insurance, and surprise surprise the price had gone up again.

I came on to the site, followed the articles advice, and went through the comparison sites, where most of the quotes were close to my renewal cost.

I followed one of the links, but changed a couple of the details that they had gotten wrong, and I have managed to save myself about £90 a year, by switching insurance companies.:money:

But what has really annoyed me is the fact that I rang my current insurer, Halifax, to see what they could do about the price they had given me, got passed through to the retention department, who spent a while telling me how fabulous they are, and as I was such a valued customer they could probably do me a deal, then I was offered a renewal price £45 lower than the one in the letter that I received this morning!

I asked the lady on the phone why my original renewal price wasn't that good to start with and she told me that it is a special loyalty discount. Apparently, if you ring them, even though the letter specifically states not to do that, they will give you a lower price over the phone than on the letter they send!

Now, I know that it pays to ring round at renewal time, and I usually do, but last year no one could beat the price, so I stayed put, but to find out that my own insurance company doesn't actually send the best quote out, even though you stay with them, made me really annoyed, and the matter of fact way that she said that if you ring them they always lower the price, how am I supposed to know that if I have never made a claim, and so have no need to call them?

Sorry for rambling, but I am really chuffed that I managed to get such a great deal, and also completely boggled by the woman from Halifax insurance. After I told her to go ahead and cancel the policy to stop the auto renewal, she wanted to put me through to someone from Lloyds TSB, so I could get some more insurance quotes!

Only problem is your premium with the new company will shoot up at renewal and you will then say the same thing about them
