i am a tenant so took out post office home insurance this year - well chuffed as only £65 and got £25 cashback! However, I unexpectedly had to move (as tenants do) and found they charge £25 for any changes at all to the policy! about 40% of my actual insurance!
I asked if I could cancel and its £35 to cancel - over 50% of the actual insurance! I cant believe they can do this when the banks have been stopped from excessive charges, is there anything i can do? I am considering looking at Quidco after reading your posts, maybe the cashback will pay for my charge ot get out of the insurance!
Any ideas welcome
FYI underwritten by the same people as Marks and Spencer - they do the same be warned!0 -
Morning
Just had a quote from Liverpool & Victoria (L&V) for Contents & Buildings Insurance that knocks spots off all other quotes I have had over the past week. Ok the contents cover is a lot lower than most but its still more than what we need.
So has anyone had experiance of them ?
Is the customer service any good has anyone had issues with them when making a claim ?
I used this site to get a B&C quote which forced my current insurer to reduce my renewal price by £84.
Last year - £200.55
Renewal quote - £264
Revised quote - 180.60:T
Thanks alot!!0 -
Our LV renewal £285
Online LV quote £240 - minus £45 Quidco = £195!!0 -
Moved to Direct Line last year for £400 Buildings/Contents and the renewal this year is £588.
It's not a bog standard policy so I can't just cancel and start a new policy online. Will they negotiate or do I have to start afresh with a new insurer discount if I can find one?

I got my renewal through from Tesco yesterday... £201.60 (for a 1 bed flat!), it's nearly double what I was paying last year! To say I was shocked is an understatement...
Spent a few hours last night comparing loads and got a couple of decent quotes around the £60 mark. Called Tesco this morning and they matched a quote I got from Churchill (apprently they're part of the same group), at £68.15.
I now have higher contents cover, same excess and about £50 less than last years!!0 -
You could have got up to £70 cashback for contents insurance from well known companies at quidco.
Regularly the cashback either covers the premium or even ends up paying you to take it out!0 -
I was going to go through Quidco for Churchill but once I'd called Tesco and they matched the price I thought it would be less hassle to continue with them...0

I went through confused.com yesterday and found house insurance with swinton for about £140 less than my new policy with lloyds. (£512)
Ringing them today, first off I find that desireable addons that I am sure I asked for online bring the policy up another £50 or so, then asked the question is the house used for business, I said yes my wife is a childminder but has insurance for that through the childminding assn., the operator told me that in that case they cannot offer insurance, sorry goodbye!
any other childminders had a problem?
Next stop is sheilas wheels who via confused.com offered to half my wifes car insurance yesterday, down from £560 to £240!!! and I told them she was a CMLife is about appreciating what you have got, not getting what you want.:j

Hi,
I'm having trouble finding a reasonable quote for my secure 2 bed flat.
The problem seems to be that I'm renting out the 2nd bedroom to a friend- insurance companies seems to treat it like I'm a landlord, if I get a quote without mentioning this then the quote immediately drops about 50%.
Any advice?0 -
re my previous post
2 days on swinton ring up and ask why I didnt take out the insurance!!
I told them and after checking they offer me another £20 off and do it for £413!
Seems that if you have the childminding assn. insurance (as I told them on sunday) it isnt a problem.
Saved another £100 this week!!!!
They even were prepared to do the utilities insurance for £40 instead of sundays "reduced" £79 :TLife is about appreciating what you have got, not getting what you want.:j
