Was with Pearl insurance for contents followed the guide and went through topcashback got a quote and the cover was actually better that my current insurance policy not only did i get it cheaper and with £60 cashback and a £10 M&S voucher it only cost me £2 for the whole year. I do agree that you should check the policy wording as they differ so much. Also did the same with car isurance and saved £401.0

In August I bought home protection add-on to my RIAS policy which included 'free' boiler service within 10 days of payment. They, after pressure from me, made 3 appointments - never kept. A severe leak forced me to use the cover again 2 weeks ago, promised for next day. I have yet to hear from them. Thank heaven for my trusty plumber who has fixed both. Is it a fraud or bad management? The home protection cost me £170! Anyone else suffered thus?0

My contents insurance with Barclays is up on April 1st. Paying £32.88 per month. Last year was paying £29.13 per month
I have 5 years no claims and was wondering If there was a cheaper company to go with but who are also a good company.
4 bed house
insured to 50,000
valuables to 10,000
single item 2,500
accidental damage is a must0 -
I have my home insurance with MoreThan and when I rang up today to cancel and told them that I found a cheaper quote somewhere, I was asked if I disclosed my "claim" for an accidental loss. I was truly shocked because we didn't have any losses hence did not make any claims as such.
However when she mentioned the date, I remembered I did claim from their "free" home emergency for a blocked drain. I was then told that it still needs to be disclosed as claims when I ask for quotes.
I didn't know that home emergency claims are considered as claims on building/contents insurance. Am I the only one missing this point?:(

Hi, I noticed one of my rings had lost a diamond last summer, I rang my insurance company to arrange for it to be repaired, the ring was sent off and took almost 3 month's to be repaired and returned, in that time I received an invoice for £0.00 regarding excess and charges....today I received an email from the company who did the repairs saying that I need to pay them £100 excess...can I dispute this considering they'd already sent me a bill with a zero balance and the fact that it's 6 month's later? I'm shocked, I don't have the £100!:(0

Quick Home Contents Insurance Question:
Three of us rent a two bed flat and would like to get home contents insurance, but one of us is not on the tenancy agreement contract (and thus they are also not on the council tax account for the flat). As far as the landlord and agency know, only two of us live here. Myself and my girlfriend are effectively sub-letting out one room to our friend.
Can our third housemate still sign up for home contents insurance?
Thanks in advance, hope someone knows the answer! I've tried Googling and nothing!0 -
Hi guys, I know it's a very broad question but just bought my first house and redoing it all. Putting in a new kitchen and bathroom so I've got a lot of work going on in the coming weeks. Where is a good place to start for building insurance? I thought here!
Thanks guys0 -
Homeowners protection defends your dwelling, its contents, and, indirectly, your other assets in the event of blazes, theft, accidents or other catastrophes. Ask a dwelling builder to stroll through your dwelling and estimate of what it would cost to rebuild. That number should be the cornerstone for how much replacement treatment you need.0

I'm a newcomer too and am so furious with Aviva that I've got to get it out of my system. I'm a pensioner with Building and Contents insurance and was horrified to find that when I applied online out of interest as a new customer for identical cover I got a quote one-third of what I'm currently paying, despite being a loyal customer for over ten years with no claims. I know a lot of it's my own fault but for those of us brought up in a more honest age the breakdown in trust comes as a shock. Aviva's attitude is that since I agreed to the original quotation I'll just have to suck my lemon. I've now changed insurer.0
