Could someone give me a rough monthly price for home building and contents insurance on a house I am buying. The house is £115500 and the contents will be insured for about £25000.

I seem to be difficult to insure due to my proximity to a river although I actually live uphill from the river, have lived here for 13 years and have never been flooded, my neighbour has been in her house since 1976 and has never been flooded! Hey ho - why don't insurers look at individual circumstances?

I have a really good quote however from fresh insurance who are brokers offering cover via European Risk who apparently are an Icelandic company.

I am looking to move from my existing insurers due to their high excess (£500). I've never heard of fresh and have been paying a relatively high premium cost for what I believe is a "premium" policy.

Should I change? Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks! The difference in cost is about £200 less with a £200 excess....

Given up and gone with existing insurance! Fresh were imposing a lot of clauses. I'll start earlier next year!

Can anyone recommend "rentguardian" ? Good price and cover but I'm unsure if they trust worthy and will be okay if I make a claim?

If not, can anyone please tell me a good place who have had a successful claim, I want to set this up today or tomorrow, but looking for something £15 month max for basic insurance.

    Thanks advance.

What I mean is, if I have to make a claim in the future I need to be sure no issues on their end. Just want someone reliable.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Am moving house in a few months time - house insurance up for renewal in 2 weeks.

Do I need to buy a full year of insurance and get a refund/transfer to the new house, or are there any monthly policies of value out there?

Has anyone here actually used an insurance company that was a success for you when you made a claim?

I check all the reviews of so many companies that I'm getting quotes from, from price compare websites but when I check reviews they are all very negative with most people having bad experiences with them when making a claim.

So can I actually trust any of these companies and if so who? Or is this just a waste of time. Surely one company will be okay?

Really hope someone will respond this time I'm moving my stuff in today and I really need the insurance sorted.
  • I needed to do it so was debating between AA & Dial Direct, so went with Dialdirect as can do monthly payments with them (One of payment with AA)
