Is the direct line quidco deal still on the go?
no. But if an existing DL member "introduces" you to a DL policy and you buy one, then we both get £20 M&S vouchers!! Not bad..PM me if interested!

Existing Liverpool Victoria Home Insurance Renewal Note:

When you get your LV home ins renewal quote do not accept it straight away. They are now looking to keep existing customers by offering "loyalty" discounts of £50 if you ask. BUT.....if you tell them you get it cheaper from say DL or even from the LV website they will tell you its new T&Cs online. In fact the buildings cover is £1m and the contents is variable, and home emergency line (normaly £4/yr) is standard. Our LV renewal quote was £425.

DL was offering B&C cover for £270. I told LV this so they offered existing cover with some discounts and minor changes at £350 but i still was not happy. So they eventually let me have a new quote under the new system for new clients which came out at £290!!.

For new customers to LV its worth getting a quote online as its 20% cheaper than phone, so we could have got ours for £235 B&C full cover but they told me existing customers must renew online. Still not a bad saving! And we can recommend the customer service at LV.

Saw the advert from Churchill where they claim to beat any insurance renewal. Not quite the huge savings they claim though. I rang and gave them my new renewal quote. They could beat it by a massive £1 a month! Not worth moving to Churchill for a £12 saving pa. Not impressed by their claims on tv.
  • Hai,

I am MANO. I am Newbie to here.

There are many terms in HOME INSURANCE. I list out that Terms. I think Its useful to you.

    Home Insurance Terms :

The fair market value of an item is the dollar amount that a knowledgeable buyer (under no unusual pressure) is willing to pay, and a knowledgeable seller (under no unusual pressure) is willing to accept.

Broker - A licensed individual or organization who transacts insurance on your behalf.

Claim - Notice to an insurance company that a loss has occurred that may be covered under the terms and conditions of the policy.

Declarations - Usually the first page of an insurance policy that contains the full legal name of your insurance company, your name and address, the policy number, effective and expiration dates, premium payable, the limits of insurance, covered property, deductibles, and any applicable lienholder information.

Deductible - The amount of loss that the policyholder is responsible to pay up-front before covered benefits from the insurance company are payable.
Depreciation - A decrease in value due to age, wear and tear, or obsolescence.

Endorsement - A written agreement that changes the terms of an insurance policy by adding or subtracting coverage.

Exclusion - A contractual provision in an insurance policy that denies or restricts coverage for certain perils, persons, property, or locations.

Insured - The policyholder who is entitled to covered benefits in case of an accident or loss.

Insurer - The insurance company that issues the insurance policy, and agrees to pay for losses and provide covered benefits.

  • I've just been hit by a renewal quote up 37% from last years premium (£135.45 to £186.90 - and that including no claims bonus). Running the same quote on the Internet I'm getting it for £126. I phoned direct line for an explanation, they could not give me any apart from not being eligible for the discounts on the web. I have declined renewal of my existing policy & have purchased the web offer. It is still the cheapest offer out there. Can anyone advise if this is an excessive price increase that the FSA should be made aware off?
  • I Dont See Point Of Going To Money Saver Link To Obtain House Insurance Quote Of 60£ Then Being Directed To Actual Insurance Company ,having To Fill In A Questionnaire Again And Then Recieving A Quote At Twice The Price
    Anyone Else Have Same Experience

    Hi all,

New to this board - would welcome some advice, please !

In the process of renewing buildings insurance for this year. Previously been through our mortgage but finally got round to looking at it and realise I can get it considerably cheaper by doing the MSE shopping around process that I've done for car and contents insurance the last few years.

The two quotes which look best (not quite the cheapest but have the right cover) are with Churchill and Lloyds TSB. Churchill is a bit cheaper, and nets a Quidco cashback of £60 and Lloyds TSB is a bit more expensive, but allegedly nets a Quidco cashback of £120 !!

Does anyone have any experience of these two insurers in terms of payout / customer service (although hope not to need that !), AND whether the Quidco transaction is fast / straightforward ?

Don't want to just jump for the highest cashback offer then have problems tracking it and get nowt !

Still waiting (three months now !) for quidco to track £30 cashback I should have had from Totesport, which is why I'm slightly uneasy about making my decision just based on the cashback !!

Any advice / recommendatons appreciated !
