sethsgran- thanks for that link. I'm wanting to have a go at stuff like that this year. Had some cross stitch stuff given me at Christmas but find the patterns too fiddly............something more 'basic' would suit me better.:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

another - lurking - newbie here.
I used so many of the lovely Christmas ideas from here, even ended up having a stall at a fayre !!! (still not sure how....)
Could someone please explain how to post pictures - I'm so proud of what I have achieved.... and sharing it is how to thank you all and help others.

when you type on the reply button you will see options at the top of the box....like changing the colour or size of your writing etc
If you hover your pointer over the small images that appear you will see one that looks like an envelope with a stamp on it and when you hover over it it will say insert image just click on that and your off!HTH

Just to wet your appetites folks, this one is on my to do list!! http://www.cedarberrystitches.com/911TallTree.jpg Its one of "Kassies" creations. A friend of mine has completed this and it is fab.
I use calico fabric for my stitchery and I use a pen that fades with water. http://www.craftsandquilts.net/water-soluble-marking-pen-17430-p.asp My local haberdashery shop sells them as do Hobbycraft. Basically sew on the lines but dont get your undies in a twist if the ink still shows. Once finished sewing I run it under a tap and it simply disappears.
I also use thin wadding, or batting under the calico as it gives your work some body. Once all sewn I rinse to get rid of the ink and then I iron it dry with very hot iron. This leaves scorch marks which ages the fabric or you can tea or coffee stain it. After all this I then use basic water colours or craft chalks, like for card making to do the "colouring in" I almost always sew with 2 strands and use brown thread.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -

evening ladies:)
lots of lovely ideas seths gran
i particularly like the santa one!
the sun catcher "thingy" is easy
i used glass beads in red, and i used acrylic clear ones as is was going to be too heavy otherwise, its only about 18" long
on a single chain, i used head pins to give them loops, then attached to the chain with split rings
i am thinking of making a curtain of them in different lengths so they come half way (ish) down a window0 -
Twinkle, when I use water colours I have the paint quite thin and dab off the brush, like in stencilling before I start to paint as it's always easier to add colour than take away.
Midnight the curtain sounds lovelyNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
This is slightly off topic but my friend is moving so I want a housewarming type gift and really want to make her something. Not sure what - needs to be easyish! Taking no longer than a week or so to make and she lives in the USA so needs to small/light enough to post. This is the only time I have really had no idea or inspiration!0
