I allowed the sales man to take the measurements - thus making him responsible if it doesnt fit..... we measured the old sofa at the weekend and i took a couple of extra inches off the overall height and depth before I told the salesman, so it ought to.

Besides you can always grease the doorframe.

You can't beat old houses for fitting furniture. I have a 7 foot sideboard which dominates every house I've had since splitting with the XOH. In my old Edwardian house, it went against one wall of the dining room, and nobody paid it much attention...

I'll bet it does, thankfully I don't have anything that big to fit in anywhere!

Today as well as spending far too much money I have unpacked my books, dvds and cds on to the book cases and filled my recycling bin with carboard boxes - luckily it was a collection day so the bin is once again empty and I've got a box of flattened boxes waiting for me to go back outdoors and refill the bin.

I also cleaned the utterly minging soap tray from the washing machine so I could do some washing and feel like it was actually cleaner after the wash than before it. Need to get a washing up brush to clean out the area behind the tray in the machine another time but it's a start.

Does it have a boil wash or equivalent? You're supposed to run them empty at maximum heat every few months to clear the pipes.

I tried running it on the hottest wash and it didnt even touch the gunk in the tray or the black mold behind it hence taking it out and scrubbing the tray but couldnt get at mold at the back so will give it another go with a long handled brush.

Currently trying to make a list of people I need to contact with a change of address. Done the banks and credit card companies, have to work through the mystery shopping companies and survey co's but most of them I can do as and when I do surveys for them. But am drawing a complete blank about any one else I need to tell.

Need to take a proof of my last address and a bank statement to submit the finance application for the sofa - would be able to put it on the credit card if needs be but seems silly getting extra debt on that if I can get it on finance at 0% instead.

Also need to get the motivation to get ebaying again, thanks to my parents turning up early and loading the vans before I finished work I wasn't able to pull out the boxes of things I planned to ditch at the charity shop so as I've managed to get it comfortably stored here I may as well work on making some more money from it before I ditch it.

The hottest wash isn't the hottest - IYSWIM. For my machine (Bosch), you select "Cotton wash" then knock down the temperature fromt he start at 60C until it goes past "Cold water" to 95C.

    Party time!

If after you wash, you open the tray and let it dry out, then that inhibits mould.

Pension? Insurance? Tax office? Hotel Chocolat?

This is an oldish hoover model, temp is set on one dial and the wash cycle on another so set to 90 on the longest cycle is as good as I could get.

Hadnt thought to take the drawer back out specifically but had done to leave it to soak overnight in hope of getting some more of the gunk off it.

If there's still gunk in the little nooks and crannies, then go buy some steradent tablets.

I was planning to use the bicarb and white vinegar which is in one of the boxes I'm yet to unpack :)
