iphone ? or no
My daughter has just had an Iphone 4S for xmas and Im well impressed, I want to have a new phone - at present with TMobile and my contract thingy says renew contract from 27 Dec, assume therefore I can give 1 months notice - ?
Im looking at the Tesco Iphone4 deal (Pay 130 upfront) then 20quid a month and 250 mins,5000 txts and 1GB data together with free BT Openzone - looks a good deal for what I want, I dont need the S bit,
Anyone know of any probs with this deal?
Thirdly what would I go for as an equivalent to the Iphone4 (cheaper)
Thanks in advance!!

This Android is available for about £70 and the only disadvantages I see are worse build quality, slightly worse screen resolution and slightly slower processor:

There are dozens of threads here like
How do people afford the iPhone???
What phone to go for iPhone 4s , Android , Windows Phone or BlackBerry
I don't want an iPhone. Am I normal?

I've just moved to Tmobile on a £15 a mth deal with an iphone 3gs.
Yes yes, its the old iphone, but its what I wanted. It has very low call minutes but I text more than I phone, so I put the unlimited text bundle on it.
I use my ipod all the time when walking to/from work (well not now as will use my iphone).
My old samsung I paid wayyy too much for. It was my 1st contract and I was able to realise I only need a cheap tariff.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

:rotfl::rotfl: are you completely nuts? comparing that to an iPhone?
is it April already?
Im no iPhone fan, well come complete opposite really, but if you are going
to make comparisons, comparing that really isn't the way forward, its not even
in the same ballpark.
Galaxy S2, HTC sensation, Nokia Lumia 800 etc etc0 -

I do not compare. Gsmarena does. I just spotted the main differences in favour of iPhone and posted them. Feel free to spot more. If you want to be pedantic don't forget to mention the differences that are not in favour of iPhone. Also, don't forget that it was 4 in question, not 4s.
And I deliberately selected one of the cheapest androids around - just to make the point.
ETA: Where have you gone? It's the next day already and I don't see any additions/corrections yet.0 -
Don't bother with low end Android phones there is always a compromise (normally lack of ram/storage capacity) and updates to the OS will more than likely never come and the iPhone 4 still has a good couple of years left in it yet.0

The ip4 has 512mb of ram, same as the vivacity, indeed the OP may lose a slight amount on resolution (which may not be apparent in the real world) would save himself the upfront cost and probably get more airtime for the same money :cool:0 -
iOS is a lot more efficient with the memory it uses due to the way it handles apps and back ground tasks whereas Android offers full multitasking and with just a few apps you can find a lot of ram swallowed up.
I appreciate both phones have 512mb ram however on the iphone I have never had the need to monitor what apps I have open and it never slows down whereas on some Android phones I have used you have to kill tasks and clean ram to get the phone running at it's optimum.
But I digress it's down to how much you want to pay each month and if you want a phone for free or to pay a small fee to own an iPhone 4S and Android phones on the whole are generally available in much more abundance on lower end tariffs than any iPhone. (not counting the 3GS as I am assuming the OP is not considering that)0 -

I don't know, although I'm reluctant to agree, one friend has a HTC desire and says when he changes his phones, the ram is going to be high priority, that said a colleague who has an iphone 3gs (now has a 4S) said his iphone would often lock up and take a minute to open applications (and that was without prompt) , I don't think it is wise to suggest that iphones are faultless or do not have shortcomings, that is comfort talk, and yes I do own an apple product but not an iphone as it couldn't meet my requirements at any cost0 -
No phones are faultless and I have had various iphones replaced for one reason or another guess it comes down to your own experiences.0
