depending what the OP is looking for I have just found this in response to another thread http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/mobile-phones/SONY-ERIC-XPERIA-MINI/HANDSET

it is £170 sim free, it has a modern CPU (same one as the xperia ray) it is getting updated to ICS next year, it can do flash in the browser (which I know is a mute point cause HTML5 is the winner now)

me personally unless someone cannot afford the £170 the xperia mini is the lowest spec android phone I would suggest at this time, it is certainly the minimum I would go to is someone is looking for an iPhone type device.

It's probably already been said, but i don't have time to read the above posts:

Have you not gone down the T-Mobile Retention route? Surely the best deal is to be had there?

The Mini is not everyone's cup of tea because of too small (for a smartphone) screen.

However on my ipod touch, I have to log into itunes store, click that I don't want the latest version , get the app (pay for it if required) then dock the unit and wait for the sync to complete
What's wrong with your iPod Touch? I installed apps on two new iPods for relatives at Christmas, they both worked exactly the same way as my iPhone and iPad, no syncing required.

Just commented on how I have to load apps compared to an android device, I also notice since an update the dock says not suitable for charging now :o
screen res, yes it has a higher resolution than my xperia ray, can the difference be observed to the eye? No :o

From what I remember, the Xperia play *just about* beats the iPhone 4 - bearing in mind that the Xperia play costs around £155-£180 new and the iPhone 4 costs around £270-£300 used. It seems like a no brainer really.

Though if you dont like the look of the play, then there is always the ray. The Samsung Galaxy S II is probably the best phone in the market (who Apple will probably try and get off from the market)

Here's another reason why I dont really like Apple:

suggesting a £70 android phone seriously? I hate to think what the user experience would be using a simple app like angry birds on it and how it will run it. specs are seriously not everything.

Considering that the previous phone in the series, the ZTE Blade (aka Orange San Francisco) can still run nearly everything available on the android market I wouldn't imagine the Vivacity will perform worse.
