Can't you just order another pair of boots (not Uggs?) Office normally have loads of different styles/varieties.

I would say though Uggs are supposed to be quite tight when first bought, they do stretch out and mould to the shape of your feet, I wouldn't advise getting a pair that are too big, but a bit tight would stretch. They do have different styles of Uggs too, so maybe try a few styles?

  • I don't mean this in a bad way...but can someone explain why Ugg boots are so popular?

Are your socks sheepskin too? Synthetic socks will just create a thermal barrier negating the reasons for actually wearing them ;)
Any socks will create a partial thermal barrier, you suck at thermodynamics.

probably, and I would never wear them without socks :D

not to be rude but you shouldnt be getting uggs then anyway as they are meant to be worn barefoot as its a natural product - some of mine are years old and smell fresh as the day purchased !!

You don't wear socks with Uggs, and they stretch quite a bit too after a few wears.

My husband and daughter decided to get me some uggs for xmas, so first vent at hubby for spending that much on a pair of boots  anyway they went to office, got a size 6 which is my usual size for boots, whilst putting reciept in bag they explained the no refund poilicy just exchange or credit!!

Anyway unwrapped them on xmas morning and they were too big, looked at box and said 6.5, took them back today to change to be told they dont come on full sizes, tried the 5.5 which although fit were a bit tight on toes and i only had thin socks on, so now I am stuck with a £190 credit note, they even tried to offer me a free postage online to find its freely available instore fro anyone to take!!

gutted and furious at the same time  :(

I can't understand why you're venting at your OH for buying Uggs for you.
Did you have an agreement to spend only a certain amount?
If you didn't, you sound really ungrateful.

Just have a read the vast number of complaints on the MSE marriages board about some of the presents people have been given, and some people got nothing at all.

Lots of shops don't have a 'without question refund' policy just because you change your mind or something doesn't fit.
The policy in shops like Next, M&S, BHS etc is over and above what a store is forced by law to offer.

There should have been signs around the shop stating that policy.
There has been in the Office shops that I've been in - I pointed it out to my sister when we went shopping earlier this month.
Your OH and daughter should have checked the refund policy BEFORE they bought.

I've recently bought some Uggs and spent ages deciding on what the right size was.
Being a UK size 2 (EU 35), the size 3.5 (EU 36) was massive.
    I ended up with a child's UK size 1, USA size 2 (EU33).

Sheepskin boots (there are loads of different brands around - EMU, Celtic etc) are all designed to be worn without socks.

It is indeed over and above what they are obliged to offer.

But I'm aware that Office staff do state that they don't do refunds (only exchange or credit) and do not mention that this does not affect your statutory rights.

They shouldn't really be saying that, as it is misleading to the customer, albeit their signs are correct and do mention statutory rights - they wouldn't dare miss it off their signs.

I do appreciate what you're saying here, Sarah - but the bottom line is in this particular case, the OP wouldn't be entitled to a refund simply because the boots didn't fit.

It would be different if the boots were faulty.

I agree it's naughty of staff in stores to give the wrong impression about statutory rights - even if it is by ommission.
