  • Spent £10.28 in Mr T. this morning on macaroni, tortilla wraps, cheese, fish fillets, biscuits, plain flour and they had 2.5kg bags of baking potatoes at 87p but I had a 30p coupon so only paid 57p :D

    Hi All

NSD yesterday, but a spend of £4.43 in the little Mr S today to get cheese and cream for a Bacon and Avocado pasta dish I'm trying out tonight. I've got 4 avocados to use (got cheap from the market) - have already used 3, since I got 7 in total, but am bored of Guacamole and don't fancy salad, so needed to find a different way to use them up!

Any ideas what I can do with the last 2 avocados before they go black? Can they be frozen if made into Guacamole for a later date?

Spent another 6.50 today in Asds - on milk for next week, eggs and some biscuits and crisps for a long car journey at the weekend to make sure we don't spent loads on getting food at the services.

Really?! I'm having a chicken & avocado sandwich for lunch, it's also great with bacon. Have never tried to freezer them though, I imagine they would go black?

    Hi Nick

Just popped in and saw your post - yes they will be fine. I do it all the time. Makes a tasty treat on toast too.

    ;)
  • Hi All, just popped in to update signature and declare another spend of £3.76 yesterday topping up the veg drawer with broccoli, green beans and peppers. Also treated myself to some huge pears from Lid! - they looked lush but yet to try them as they are a bit firm, so will leave them cuddling the banana for a couple of days.

A nsd for me today so will start planning out next weeks menu and make some butter with the spare tub of cream in the fridge, still have loads in the freezer and what with the veg mountain shouldn't need to shop for a few days.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Yeah - I know...maybe I need to try chicken with it. I've just had it on it's own with bagels for the last 2 days and wanted something different in the bagels today. I get bored easily having the same food too often at the moment :D

Oh - thank you! If I can't force myself to try something with them tomorrow I'll give this a go. Can't be throwing food away now can I? :o

Another NSD today I am really pleased that shopping from my stores is working so well.I am determined to get my 'food mountain' store reduced and my cash savings towards my summer holiday increased.I still have enough milk and bread to get me through to the weekend fingers crossed, and plenty of fruit and veg and salad bits.I will have some fish (from freezer) and charlotte potatoes and last bit of cauliflower for dinner tonight and probably I may make a rice pudding to use some of my tinned evaporated milk (I seem to have cornered the market in tins for some reason) and make a pud, enough for a couple of days at least.
We are all going great guns aren't we and a third of the way through January all ready
    Cheers Chums

    Hey all!

Just checking in here while I have a quick bit of lunch. Have been a bit MIA the past few days - but that's cos I still haven't spent any more. I can't quite believe it  And I have soo much to catch up on now :rotfl:

I shouldn't have to spend anything till around Sunday either, when I'll need to pick up some fresh bits for packed lunches! Daughter is away for the weekend and I'll just have the sausage pasta bake I made last night (seriously, it doesn't matter what I make I always seem to end up with loads :o) so I don't even need to cook either :T

Chicken curry with rice and naan bread for dinner tonight and the rest will be roasted for dinner tomorrow. Is anyone else like me and doesn't like reheated chicken? There seems to be a 'taste' to it that isn't there in freshly cooked chicken. Nothing else seems to bother me - and I can eat it cold no problems, just not hot.

I need some for cottage pie mash topping tonight and pasta dish tomorrow.

Probably a bit late for tonight but sometimes I make my mash with some crumbled stock cube and boiled water. Sounds hideous, tastes really nice and obviously a bit lower fat than half a block of butter and milk. Not that I do that, of course  :A

Just popping in to report £12.89 at L!dl yesterday which takes me to £65.66 / £200 for the month so far.

I know I've got a mahooooosive shop coming up as I'm running everything right down and the shopping list on the blackboard is getting longer and longer. I figure each day I can eke it out is a day closer to the end of the month! Found myself out of milk and scarily short of showergel yesterday hence the l!dl trip. Quite pleased I managed to restrain myself from getting too much. Spent a while looking at the meat and veg but decided that I would stick to the meal plans this week and go back again next week for it. After I've had chance at the weekend to check out the farm shop I just discovered down the road from us! Ended up getting a couple of bags of bread flour because it was only 59p (shame they didnt have wholemeal as that's what we've actually run out of!) and a tinned meat pie because its OH's favourite and I'm making him eat a lot of "very much not his favourite" meals at the moment while I get through everything we've got in stock. Picked up a couple of other things off the blackboard too but all in all well chuffed that its nearly half-way through the month and I'm nowhere near halfway through my budget.
