Spent £3.20 on lunch at work today. It's a bit of a dilemma, because I know I could bring lunch in and do it cheaper, but it forces me to leave the office which is good because otherwise I just work straight through. Hmm what to do..

I'm exactly the same! It's not as easy as saying bring lunch in and go for a walk to eat it, I HAVE to leave to get lunch, or else I wouldn't get the chance to leave!

  • Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and have been reading this thread with interest.

I don't actually know what we spend on food but I think it is £30 a week or £120 a month. I have started to save my receipts and my OH and I are interested to see what it may be. So can we register £30 per week for now including cleaning products etc

We needed shopping yesterday and I put our list through money supermarket which checked the big 4 and then went to Al*i where we saved £8 something on the best price. I think that maybe because it was mostly fruit and veg and they do the 39p offers. However we made a massive saving on Caster sugar -1kg for 97p whereas the next cheapest was As*a at £1.44.

We popped to Waitrose on the way back too and bought
    4 muffins - 35p
deli marinated artichokes 25p (were £3.99)
Packet of 5 red chillies 25p

    :rotfl:Gotta love a bargain!!:j

  • Thanks Spiggle! :). They are! I'm not so sure I appreciated them when I was young but as a financially independent adult with a dwindling income....they suddenly make more sense!!!:D.

  • Thank you Sproggi & Helen. It was a very weird day. My parents were going to take me to the hospital (50 mile round trip) but then my OH said he wanted to, so I put the parents off. Then OH started an argument in the car on the way into town. I've spent xmas & NY assuming the worst and I am so annoyed with him. Whenever it is something big or important he seems to turn into a child. Grrr.

Anyway, the CT itself was ok, they injected something in my arm and told me it may feel like I've 'passed water'! It did (but I hadn't!) Freaky stuff. Now a 2 week wait for the results.

Please hang on in there all you quitters, although we all know that smoking can give you nasty stuff, actually being told you have a shadow on your lung is very, very frightening. I quit about 4 years ago.

So after that great ramble, I got OH to stop at Waitrose on the way back so I could pick up some tahini & a lemon to make houmous, and ended up spending £5.80. And THEN, I stopped at Julian Graves and got some reduced fruit for £1.89 (I really only stopped there to annoy OH as he wanted to go home!) :D

So, that's me over my grocery budget this week. I'm sure I can claw it back over the rest of the month, otherwise it'll have to come out of another pot.

I am planning to nip into Mr M's tonight for some fruit - back on SW diet! I have a £5 voucher so will use this rather than dipping into the grocery budget - otherwise I am getting better at advoiding the temptation of the local shop where I could easily spend over £10 on junk food which would disappear just as quickly. A sincere thankyou to everyone for keeping me on the straight and narrow.:T

Feeling quite chuffed - I spent £87.78 from my £90 budget this week. I was £9.02 under on groceries, but £6.80 over on my cat food/cleaning/medicines budget.

Tesco Value soya milk has gone up from 59p to 65p - that's just over 10% in a week!

    Hi All

I haven't been on here for a few months now :o But I have been sticking to my budget and have been more or less or track, although the takeaway costs (which used to be included in my budget) seem to have been rising....

So now i'm here, back on track and back including T/A's in my budget!

    My Monthly budget is £200

So far this month I have spent £33.48 of my budget :j And this week i've had 3 NSD's :j

Does anyone know the cheapest place for Quorn? I'm interested in reducing our meat eating days but don't think dh would be pleased so will try to cheat him before I suggest it :D
    :j Mortgage Free!! )
Generally trying to cut back where possible :j
  • Quick check in. Went to Ald* and spent £39.85. Some good bargains in fruit and veg. So currently simmering home made leek and potato soup and soaking orange peel and juice for marmalade making tomorrow!
Will be going to butchers tomorrow for chicken and se what he has to go in the slow cooker.
    Have a good weekend all.
