  • Hi, I would like to join in again with a budget of £250 for the month (16th Jan to 15th Feb), thats for 2 adults, 2 kids (sometimes 3 if DS GF eats with us) 2 dogs and 1 cat.

Really enjoyed doing this last year but it all fell apart due to a personal loss and never got back in to the swing of things for the rest of the year :( so now I am back to the "normal" me and ready to tackle 2012 head on.
  • Aha, have checked the receipts more closely and they have been marked, I thought they were supposed to hang on to them. No problem, I wasn't terribly comfortable with the idea of doing it anyway, so have no problem with people telling me it's a bad idea!

How old Is your child? They don't need formula after 1yr Old ( they just make and advertise the stuff o get around formula advertising laws xx ) I must have spent thousands on milk for my daughter as I thought you HAD to go up the milks :o

She's nine months so nearly there!
  • Really enjoyed my weekly shop today! Hit Lid1 & Tesc0, didn't see many real bargains tbh, although there seemed to be people flocking to the 'festive' aisle which I had no interest in so didn't even look.
Came in at £22.57, so under budget and don't 'need' anything else until next Thursday so fingers crossed.

Glad to say i still havent spent anything at all.
Monday is payday though, so i have been busy writing my shopping list.
in order to stick to my £200 budget, i am going to do 1 big shop for about £100, then i will have £100 to last me the month for bread, milk, eggs, fruit and veg. Is this how other people do it? I am determned to actually stick to this months grocery challenge budget!

Does it matter that my month isnt 1st Jan-1st Feb? It's actualy 9th Jan-9th Feb?

welcome cleggie, you have whatever month suits you, it starts and finishes with whatever date you choose.

my problem is i usually have too much month left at the end of my money:o

we get paid monthly but i tend to shop weekly so divide my money into 4 but if you can meal plan for the month a monthly shop will be ideal with just fresh stuff each week

i try to save some each week so i can do a freezer fill at farmfoods at the end of each month

When my DD was 7/8 months the docs advised us change to cows milk due to weight, although 9 mnths is about the earliest you can do it and I would say to do it very gradually :)
