It will also highlight any potential driver and application issues. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Been using Vista for 4 months (RC2 Ultimate) and now moved to Home premium. Quite a lot of tools missing from the home premium but most of it would never really be needed anyway so not a real loss. Networking isnt as good configuring wise (dont know if its the same in the final retail Ultimate) All the previous driver fixes and workarounds still work so getting my Netgear network working was no problem (Netgear also have Vista drivers anyway but the XP ones are more stable). Creative have released Vista drivers for my Audigy2 card and my printer installed without having to do the webinstall and take all the crap apps with it. The Media centre is still excellent and still configures my radio and TV cards itself without me even having to download drivers. I also ran the RC2 with the stock firewall,mallware/adware software and the 12 months trial of CA antivirus I got with my RC2 for 4 months and never had any problems or viruses as well.
Overall its nothing new as I have had 4 months to get used to it and never once had a crash (although I did find 17 bugs, and microsoft sent me 16 solutions for them... need to see if the 17th has been fixed). A nice operating system but if you are planning to get a new PC in the near future then dont buy it. It is a big change but untill it becomes neccesary for something you need then wait till then.0 -
Well I have had it for a week. I like using it but you have to have a special edition of AOL or it will not work and it does not like my Lexmark printer. The Lexmark site does not have a download for Vista as yet, so I am using an older computer if I need to print anything.0

Karrie, I've seen Vista in action (online video presentation
) & really like it. Would I like to upgrade now? No, but in 2-3 years maybe yes - if I really need it & can afford it.
Only 1½ years ago I was using 98se & didn't like XP (Pro) at first, but it grew on me pretty quickly & I couldn't do without it now. G
P.S. A poor man's Vista: How to make XP look like Windows VISTA without upgrading
Microsoft Promises Windows Vista Will Boot in Three Seconds - yeah, right :rolleyes:0 -
I was offered a free Vista upgrade when I bought my laptop so I will just order the disc and decide later to install it or not.
Going by the comments here I may not bother installing, I’m not a techie person and really have no need but might as well order the Vista and let family of friend have it if they want.0 -
That may be illegal to dohotuk wrote:......but might as well order the Vista and let family of friend have it if they want.
. Check with them when ordering. G
P.S. Btw, the 'free' upgrade is not really free - one usually has to pay a small amount to cover processing & delivery costs.0 -

Thanks, in that case I won’t bother ordering.
I’m quite happy with the XP.0 -

Yes you are. I'd advise an immediate upgrade/replacement (as we did) to a Spectrum 48k."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
