What are the UK's cheapest (and nicest of course) Valentines Red Roses?
This is a great hunt to find the UK cheapest Valentines Red Roses, if you know of a cheaper stockist just click reply and add it. I've started it off with the main cheaper suppliers to get it all going...
Cheapest In-store Roses At Major Retailers
The cheapest in store bunch (of those who've announced prices) is a bargainous £4.99 at Morrisons available 11 Feb.
Sommerfield 24 Sweetheart roses - £4.99
Morrisons - £4.99
Tesco - £6
Sainsbury's - £10 (or £15 for its premium bouquet)
Make supermarket roses look special
If you’re worried that supermarket roses don’t exactly scream romance, simply replace the packaging with some posh-looking wrapping paper, those with better taste in these things than I tell me pink or purple tissue paper works a treat...
Delivered Red Roses
If you want to impress Ms/ Mr Right with courier delivery, Asda Online has 12 red roses for £16 including delivery, of course opting for tulips or 'non-red' roses custs the cost.
Asda - £16,
Tesco - £19.39
Debenhams - last order day 2.30pm 13 Feb £25
Bunches Flowers - £29.99
Sainsburys - £19.50
Interflora - £45
I've focused on the supermarkets and main stockists. Please report any cheaper finds (also I've concentrated on delivery rather than by mail). Also of course if you want super-long stem roses of various types they're going to cost more. I duly expect a florist to write this somewhere in the forum link - but my focus is not breaking the bank!
Alternative Ideas
A wonderful charity has a balloons by post operation that is also a great prezzie and a sizeable chunk goes to help sick children. See this. Also take a look at the Great 'Cheap but Romantic Valentines Gifts' Hunt

Depending on how tolerant / fond your partner is of Moneysaving savvy, the cheapest price I saw last year was 99p for a huge deluxe bunch of red roses in Sainsburys.
Admittedly this was on 15th Feb, but surely that's close enough! :rotfl:0 -

There is a £3.99 delivery charge though, which bumps the price up a bit, although I imagine that's true of many offers.
Quick internet scan brought up the code SUM76 though, which earns you 5% off (before delivery). So total cost comes out as £27.74, or with quidco giving 19% back it comes in at £22.47 - assuming it's 19% of the total (inc. delivery).
Not that money is any object when it comes to my sweetie0 -
Sort of helps if you compare like with like though. Half of those prices are for bunch roses which will fall over in 3-7 days (or less if you get a really poor batch), whereas some are for long stem roses which should last up to two weeks in the right conditions (but only if they have been properly cared for - most won't have been).
Typically if you pay less than about £35-40 you will either be getting bunch roses or long stemmed roses that have been cut and stored for weeks (which also don't last very well). Nothing wrong with that necessarily - but with roses at Valentines you very much get what you pay for.
Watch out for things like Interflora's 39.99 dozen in a vase as well. IF have not been very specific about it, and I know that some florists are using long-stemmed roses and some are using bunch roses for this item, so what you get is totally dependent on who makes it up.0 -
Just to let you all know I used Asda last year for the first time to send flowers on Valentines Day to my dear wife, instead of my usual local supplier.
After 15 years of marriage this was the first time she did not get flowers deilvered to her on this special day. On contacting Asda I was told there was a delivery hold up at the depot. My wife got something resembling flowers (a box of 15 red roses was ordered) 2 days later. The flowers looked like they had been in the box for a week without water! Needless to say Asda were contacted again. This is where the customer service gets shocking! I would have expected a full refund which I got, but nothing forthcoming to keep me as a future customer, in way of compensation. Was this too much to ask?
I have gone back to my usual supplier this year, please do not gamble on Asda!0 -
I also had issues regarding roses for valentines. Asda did not deliver at all last year took me six weeks to get a refund. I have since started to use a company called freshisbest, they do have a web site but I have always done better ringing them on their freephone number 08001691044 they are very good and deliver anywhere I think. Good luck let me know how you get on !0

The boyfriend bought 12 roses from ASDA last year (not delivery, straight from the shop). On arrival, 4 roses had been decapitated. He went back to complain, got his money back AND 6 roses on top. The in-store customer service has been nothing but excellent for us, often your goods are covered by a 200% price guarantee, so you get the goods again and the same amount in cash, or twice the cash. So I am expecting roses from ASDA again this year....Reclaimed thanks to this site:
