I also have had this (Due to a system error 0870 calls not charged)
I have checked my past bills and for the dates they quote, I have been billed for these calls.

Looking at my currant usage, only two months. I see something there that I have not seen in the past, it's billed as Special services the number is 0844 4773115.

To my knowledge I have not rung that number. And there are 15 of them listed.

    Anyone know what they are?

    Thanks.

    Google does - http://www.oakfieldstreetsurgery.co.uk/notice.asp

Outrageously for a 'free at the point of delivery' GPs' surgery, it's one of the 5p per minute at all times 0844 numbers (i.e. 66% more expensive to call from a BT residential landline than a standard geographical number).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
