Ive just logged onto Bt.com to check my call log for my up and coming bill and on the call log page it has in red writing a message from Bt about an error on my bill from between August 2006 and November 2006 for calls which i havent been charged for. This is what it says exactly :
Due to a system error, calls you made to 0844, 0845 and some 0870 numbers between 11th August and 7th November 2006 have not been billed. They will appear on your bill from the end of January 2007. We apologise for this error and hope it hasn't inconvenienced you. The issue has been resolved and only calls for the period stated are affected.
Surely they cant just expect me to pay for them now as it isnt my mistake it theres.Any ideas anyone on what i should do now.Do i phone them and ask exactly how much they have added onto the bill and decided then whether i should pay it.

I haven't yet been billed for the gas I used in November.
What's the difference?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

So you wouldn't expect them to refund you if they'd overcharged you last year but you didn't notice until, say, you did your end-of-tax-year accounts?Gambler wrote:Difference is I have been billed and paid up every month. Now they are saying oh sorry we forgot some calls. That's not my problem.
It's a chargeable service which you've used, you are liable to pay. And how would I know if they'd overcharged me? It's one thing checking your gas bill as you can check the readings. I for one don't have the time to study my phone bill and just check that the total amount is reasonable, which it is.
And there have been 0845 calls etc. on the bill every month.
You are probably quite right and I am laible to pay but I wont do so without a fight.0 -
Sorry Gambler - I reckon your holding a losing hand but only you will know when to fold. I reckon BT is holding the stronger hand and you'll have to pay.
You gotta know when to hold em...

The funny thing is the only reason I logged into bt.com was to check what I'm currently spending as my broadband contract with another provider is coming to an end and am looking into the possibility of opting for an all in package.
This has made my mind up for me, I'll be ditching BT.0 -
I have also had the same message on my BT online bill. But I have checked back on previous bills and believe that I have actually been billed for all 0845/0844/0870 calls for the period in question. As a precaution I have printed out all calls for the period .
Bt have not actually said how they are going to bill these missed calls, ie will they itemise them on a current bill but with dates in the past? All they have said is that the calls will appear on a bill after the end of Jan, but so far no extra calls have appeared on my online bill so I am hoping that it is a BT ***up.0 -
BT do have a right to charge you, Legally they can recover costs up to 6 years.
This is not just a BT retail billing error. The error was caused by systems of BT Wholesale. The error affects all communication providers, not sure about cable though.
At least BT have taken action to inform their customers, other SP's haven't, as far as I know! The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Not those of my employer, its staff or colleagues.0
