god BT are making me mad, they just dont stop at anything to get money off you, went online today to see my bill and in red lettering it says the following,
Due to a system error, you were not billed for calls you made to 0844, 0845 and some 0870 numbers between 11th August and 7th November 2006. The cost of these calls will now appear on your next bill. We have now resolved the error and hope this hasn't caused you any inconvenience.
just who do they think they are,
I have been with primus since 24th june 2006, so how in the world did I make these calls with them, hmmm, so I rang them, indian call centre, well I know I'm from the north, but I dont have much of an accent, due to moving around alot with my last job, but the woman couldn't understand me, my son was laughing his head off, as I trying to speak sloooooooowlyyyyyy so that this person could understand me, well after the phone call I dont know if either of us understood what the hell was said, so I went online and raised a ticket with them about it, and I now have to pay £1.48 amonth for my caller display which I have never had to pay for before, hmmm bt I wish I could go else where, but loath talktalk just as much,
    cw:mad:

That message appears for everyone - if you didn't make any calls to these numbers with BT, you won't be charged anything.

WOW I am so impressed, I sent an email to the CEO of BT.com and just got a phone call back from them as to what is happening, it was a mistake, I dont have to pay for any calls within that period as I wasn't with them then for my calls, but the lady, carmen alexander, said it also shouldn't have been on there when I went on line, as it doesn't apply to me, and she is going to have a look as to why I am now being charged £1.48 a month for my caller display which I haven't had to pay for since it went free, so I am a happy bunny, thankyou Heinz for that usefull info,
a big kiss to you xx

caller display is chargeable as your not making calls through BT. As part of the free caller display offer you need to make at least 2 chargeable calls with BT per month. If you don't you charged £1.46 plus vat £1.75 per month. This has always been the policy, but BT have just recently started to enforce it. To make 2 chargeable calls with BT, prefix the number your calling with 1280. Dialling 1280 will route that one call through BT, otherwise you'll need to accept the charge of £1.75.

An evening or weekend UK 01 or 02 call of less than an hour costs 5½p on BT - so you can meet the 2 calls per month 'requirement' for 11p (33p for the 6 calls if you're billed quarterly).

    A bargain IMHO.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I've had exactly the same thing happen - never used caller display before yet they have started charging me for it. Called up BT and he explained what Clark has said, but I explained that I have never asked for caller display to be added to my account so why was it on there in the first place. I think he's going to cancel it (was finding it difficult to understand his accent), but am not sure if he'll refund the previous charge. Think I might email the ceo and see if I can get some information back.
