  • One Christmas DH bought me a 'swim with the sharks' experience at the Blue Planet Aquarium:eek:.

I genuinely didn't know how to take it and he thankfully got the money back and bought me something nice from Tiffanys instead:D!

I am proper :rotfl: at this thread, my stomach is hurting from chortling so much.
  • My hubbys 85 year old gran got him some saucy socks with things like "my sex bomb" written on them. To be fair her eye sight isnt too good and we had a good giggle over it.

I dont mind cheap presents but I hate it when people obviously havent thought about what they are buying. Some of the stories on here are terrible. Why bother if you arent prepared to make an effort?
  • slighty off topic but..

my dad brought himself a belt while on holiday once with a silver 'playboy bunny' motif thing on the buckle-he has no idea what playboy is so just thought it was a belt with a nice buckle!!

on another note--when my DS was born a colleague from work sent me a card. A 'with sympathy' card' . It had a congratualtions message inside..?? she's polish so i thought perhaps she doesnt know when sympathy cards are given..

or maybe she was sympathising with my 18 hour labour....
  • I absolutely loved this thread havent laughed so much in ages, my worst xmas gift was from an ex boyfriend( a long time ago lol( think I was about 17 at the time) it was a hideous pink ceramic monkey with a springy head, OMG it was ugly and when I asked him why he bought IT for me he said it was because I reminded him of a monkey:eek: needless to say we did not spend boxing day together or any other day as a matter of fact lol, his mum also bought me a mens toiletries set:o

This year someone from work gave me lavender drawer liners, didnt think they made those anymore I suspect she's had them for some time lol, also got a rose soap and showergel giftset frm a lovely lady in her 80:DI'm 30 u know the kinda thing you would buy your 80year old nan, I did see the funny side of it, bless, its the thought that counts.

But saying that I remember giving a pen to one of our neighbours for christmas, they are ever so posh too, I have no idea what possesed me to give it to them it wasnt even new:o I'm so ashamed lol!
LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT
  • I just KNEW what my present from dad was before opening it. It felt just like the previous 4 years parcels had........
Yes I was right -- another t-shirt--wrong size, wrong colour, not my style.......

This thread has made my day; I’ve not laughed so much in a while:D
I think I’ve got off lightly reading all these MIL stories; my OH mother is a wonderful woman.
I did have one dodgy Christmas experience; when I was 16 my mother presented me with a stocking on Christmas day containing a few large teddy bears, lap dancer leather thong with chains on the back, lacy red thong, a large bottle of bailey’s Irish cream and 20 cigarettes. :eek:My father hit the roof lol.

  • I live in my Ugg Kensington boots - this year my mother bought me a pair of Boots for Xmas. I've just found them on the Tesco website: http://www.clothingattesco.com/shoes+boots/f+f-faux-fur-trim-worker-boot/invt/az122008/&bklist=icat,4,shop,catgkids,kids-footwear

They are not black, they are a kind of bleached grey, the bits that look like creases are bleached bits. Just the thought of wearing them to her house is making me come out in a hot sweat. I should really try them on in the hope they do not fit...... They are really, really awful. I know I *should* be grateful but..... they are hideous. There is no way I am going to be able to wear them in public. I am 40.....!!

Does your Mum think you are Mrs Claus?

    They are hellish! LOL
  • Last year my MIL bought this for xmas

To this day I still don't know what to say about it

Guess who is clearing the snow next year...
