Those of you waiting for your dividend card from the Co-op, or if you ever forget it, ask the assistant to put it on "forgotten" and keep the receipt - it adds a barcode to the receipt that they can scan in at a later date. Well, that's how it works at my local one."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

Hi all, I would like to join as well, followed this in 2011 and really enjoyed taking my custom away from the supermarkets!
I knew I needed a few bits and pieces so was trying to work out where to get them from when I went to a meeting in Coventry today and there was an Aldi right next to the hotel. Seeing as I was half an hour early it would have been rude not to take the opportunity
I don't use supermarkets much as we bulk buy a lot in Costco but have got into the habit of going to Mr M's after the gym on a Friday evening and always spend at least £20, usually on stuff I don't really need
Have very full store cupboard and lots in the freezer so it should only be fresh stuff I need this month; no greengrocer near here so I need to do some searching. There is an asian supermarket near work but although their veg is cheap and pretty good the fruit can be a bit ropy. Trial and error I think.
Good luck everyone :T0 -
I have no idea how I missed this thread before - haven't bought any food from the supermarket since 23rd March (although I did grace Sainsbos for a baking tin in this time). I challenged myself to eat out of the freezer and cupboards until the end of April, then extended it until after the next BH. Well my freezer and cupboard stashes are significantly reduced, but food has become increasingly boring lately as I haven't cooked from scratch either....just 6 days to go now!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Count me in too I hate shopping in the big 4 mainly because it is like shopping in a disco and you can't hear yourself think in our local Asda
We do most of our shopping in Aldi and a local freezer and farm shop and I want to run down the cupboards anyway so it shouldn't be too hard to doBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Day two completed - yesterday was an NSD and today I just had to pop into the health food shop; all I needed was some Arborio rice & some dried mushrooms for a "leftovers" risotto tonight, which seems to have gone down very well.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

I would never have thought of buying either from a health food shop so thank you for the inspiration!0 -
NSD for me today, i'm making do with what i have in, not that it is too much of a struggle, we do tend to overstock. I'm also saving money as i know i cant nip to asda or tesco.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

Spent £1-15 on creme fraiche at local Co-op yesterday - walked round with pup. Went specifically for that and didn't buy anything else. Cost 15p more than in the big 4 but more than saved that on the petrol to get to a big supermarket (none within walking distance from me). And, of course, I could not have bought just the one thing in the big 4
Will be a NSD today - thriftwizard's post reminded me I hadn't had risotto for ages and have all the ingredients in already and lunch will be HM soup and bread."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0
