Bl***y Halifax!!!!

Ok,rant time, just cannot believe their 'new' method of treating customers like dirt.
I have a cardcash account, just the basic, used to pay cheques in over the counter, now they won't let me,went to pay some in today, the branch was empty,so toddled to the cashier only to be informed I am not able to,I have to use a letter box situated 3 feet away from him, fill in forms, post in the slot,no record of what i paid in except what i write on the envelope,no acknowledgement of time,so could sit there all day,and to cap it all TEN days to clear!!!!
So I've had enougth, can anyone recommend a decent bank account, nothing special, not allowed a sensible one.
I just felt sorry for the OAP's behind me,they were totally lost, and the lovely customer services people did a fine job of ignoring them,I gave them a hand which made me feel a tadge better, but grrrrrr, had enougth of this third class citizen treatment!

  • Try citibank .... On this thread you'll find lots of people who have been able to get a proper current account through them ....

Alternatively, I would recommend the Co-op Cashminder account ..

Citibank have a fully functioning account. Read the threads on it on this forum.

I don't know if the Quidco £50 is still available, but worth a try.
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.

Can you pay cheques into CitiBank over the counter then? Where are the branches?

I believe they're branches are mainly in London ... however, you can pay cash and cheques into any Lloyds TSB branch - which is then transferred to your Citibank account ..

There are 3 branches in London and 1 branch in Manchester I think of citibank. But you can use the Loyds bank counter to pay in money and cheques but it takes about 4 days to clear.

Have you considered trying to upgrade your account instead? Maybe after your recent experience you don't want to, but it is another option...
  • Cardcash is a basic account

they have been advertising for a long time (don't know how many inserts are in bank statements, although do some people read them) that changes will soon be happning to cardcash accounts meaning counter facilities are being removed

Why have you not got a current account where cheques take 3 working days to clear rather than 7 on the cardcash? and cardcash does not pay any interest at all, compared to current account that does

cardcash has visa electron only, compared to visa debit card

Halifax have not opened cardcashes to new custs for about a year

The deposit enevelopes do have receipts attached ???? and credit in the same way and saves you queing

all my statements are online, tried the Halifax current account about 6 months ago,was refused, but that's by the by,it's the attitude they have,if you fit this criteria you can have all this,if you don't there's a slot in the wall, use that, sorry just makes me so angry
