and Baby is already off out tonight with my cousin, hubby away back to bed for a while. We are heading down to my Aunts at 4pm to help her cut hedges and will probably be there all evening....so although I could do some housework, I have decided to sit on my bum and stitch while it is all quiet.....

    mine was surprisingly early.

    good plan Caroline.

so far today i've made cheesy numbers (pastry + cheese + number pastry cutters) with DS2.
and spent 2 hours hunting for the new pack of toilet rolls.......... found them........under DS's bed......... that's the last time I leave hubby to put the shopping away.

Could you not change the design slightly each time...like make the frosting a different colour or decorate with different items to make them all different....xx

  • Or this one is free on Lucie's site....

    Hi Ladies.

Have been on hols but checked in a couple of times to keep an eye on what was happening. Couldn't post though so apologies in advance if I comment on old news :D

beg. Hope Sleeping Beauty looks ok after some 'manipulating'

Caroline. Love the ABC quilt. It's coming along quickly!
Your Son is a real cutie :)

    mrsmp. Nice carboot bargains!

fos. Really like the Just Nan sampler. I can see why it's a favourite piece.

Nmm. Nice progress on BD. Love the new pup, so cute!

    Mags. Loving the Relativity updates.

MrsF. Sorry to read about the loss of your Grandad.

Louise. You must resist and finish Medieval Lady first! :D

Didn't take stitching away with me so I hope to get some done over the weekend.
Hubbys heart sank over the hol when I spotted a place called 'Hobby Warehouse' but to be honest a fairer description would have been 'Hobby Hut/Shack/Room'. It was very disappointing! I was actually expecting a warehouse sized place but it was tiny and there was hardly any stock in the place.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • Another busy week so lots to catch up with - I can see that lots of you have had some quality stitching time :)

augustmummy If the birth sampler for your DS is one of your unframed pieces I agree you should get round to framing it before he gets to the age where he objects to having it in his room (spoken with experience :D - mind you I just moved my DS's birth sampler to our room instead). Looking forward to seeing the meerkat intial

mrsmp how emabarassing about the towels. At least the postage wasn't as much as you feared and you'll never do it again (instead you'll check your cases a million times :D)

chicky - I chose the kit for the congratulations card for the exact reason you mentioned - it didn't take long to stitch but looked effective
Those Make a Wish kits are cute and it's a great charity to support

magscat love your countdown and yes you can already see what it's going to be I think those stripes would have the same effect on my eyes

FlatEric - re the Christmas Kisses kit the threads may be Anchor (margaret Sherry often just uses Anchor). If you use the card mount not much of the aida will show and I'm not sure about a dark background - opalescent/pearl flecked aida might be nice (just my opinion)

brednall Re Lizzie Kate charts - she uses a lot of overdyed threads (Weeks Dye Works, Gentle Arts Sampler Threads and Crescent Colours) which are expensive if you are buying all of them at once. She does tend to use the same colours in lots of different designs so one skein will stitch more than one chart. However she always gives DMC and Anchor equivalents which look great. The overdyes give a fairly subtle shaded effect - they are usually not as variegated as DMC for example
My ABC cushion is stitched entirely in Crescent Colours (because the threads came with the chart) and the effect isn't very noticeable. I gave the chart to a friend of mine and she used DMC and it looks just as good

firefly Hope you do complete JOY - just think how wonderful it will look as part of your Christmas decorations

DH is wondering where his lunch is so will have to catch up with the rest of the posts later.

Have a great weekend everyone, hopefully with some quality stitching time
