Thank you for the link to Darth *Louise* - might give it a go for my star wars mad brother for his birthday. Although it might be next year, given how long it has taken me to do the tiny Fizzy moon stitch. I am a fantastic procrastinator

I'm not scrolling back up to cheat - is 995 bright blue (can't think of any better explanation) either 995 or 996 (again not digging out snoopy kit to check) features this colour and I agree its a fab shade :T
Thanks for sharing how you have your threads sorted - out of interest, assuming you are loading a new skein on to one of those bobbins (and do you use cardboard or plastic), do you cut the thread at regular intervals so that what you are in fact loading on to the bobbin is (eg) 10 x (6 strand) bundles of thread? Because I'm guessing when you come to use that colour - it is much easier to have it already cut up ?? (and what happens when you have used say 4 strands and there is just 2 (strands) of thread left or perhaps enough thread to use again but not a huge amount - do you wind this back on to the bobbin??
What does everyone plan to stitch this weekend. OH is watching the football of course tonight and I am hopeful that I can resist the lure of my computer and instead read my book / do some stitching.
Yes, it's an electric blue shade, 996 is a second favourite, it's a lighter version which looks great alongside it.
I don't cut the thread when I wind it on to the bobbin (plastic, more sturdy). It's a lot of faffing about and there would be a lot of ends hanging out.
The reason I don't cut it is due to your second point - leftover thread. If I check a design and there is only going to be a small amount of a certain colour, I will only cut a short section of thread. If there is a large amount required then I will cut full lengths.
Once cut, I load the thread onto a thread organiser. When I have finished a project, I have a plastic folder with old organisers/leftover thread. I am too impatient to get to my next project to spend time putting leftovers back onto bobbinsHowever if I end up only needing a few stitches of a colour I will check through the leftover threads before cutting a new length off the bobbin. They are also very handy for making cards / other small projects, so a lot does get used up.
For this weekends stitching - I'm off to visit my mum in hospital tonight, and when I get back I will stitch a fathers day card for my dad. I am going to laminate it so it will last for a while at the cemetery. Once that is done I will decide if I can manage a last push at Circe. If I don't then I will stitch a thank you coaster for DS2's teacher - it' almost end of term for us Scots.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. electric blue ! those were the words I was looking for
Thanks for tips on thread sorting. I might use some of my sealed pot money to buy boxes and bobbins (where do you buy your bobbins from?) to organise my threads :j and I like your idea for leftovers :T0 -
It was a while ago but I just got mine from sewandso so I can't remember what I paid - might be worth having a look on ebay and comparing the prices thereCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Well I have to say I am absolutely livid. I bought one of those DMC storages boxes on Ebay this morning, and not only do I go into Home and Bargains and find very similar, they are also a lot cheaper and a lot bigger! They are £2.49 in H&B if anyone is looking for one, I am absolutely fuming
Ok they are not the DMC ones, but who cares?? Aaaarrggh I was fuming all the way around H&B and had to buy a bar of chocolate to calm me down lol.
Just wish I'd waited until tomorrow to buy it off Ebay like hubby suggested. Mine on Ebay was £6.50 this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261020391085?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Ok rant over, I hope someone finds it useful though all the same!St. Francis said: “A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”0 -
Flat_eric I bought some of these this morning, if it helps.

I also bought a bobbin winder http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290723608506?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I don't know if they are any good, I've never used one before, but thought I would take a chance, seeing as its for my birthday!
Louise - I'm so jealous of all your threads and boxes. I'm over the moon with one box!St. Francis said: “A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”0 -

Hi, the ones in Home Bargains near me, personally, I don't like them for bobbin storage as they have rounded bottoms rather than flat bottoms, and the bobbins don't seem to fit as nicely as they do in flat bottomed ones.13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

^^Good decision :T
I don't mind winding one or two by hand, but for more than that a bobbin winder really does make life easier.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
