I am tempted by Around the world in 80 stitches sal that ppl seem to be doing, just discovered the papillion siteI really love the concept of learning diff stitches from diff countries.
Ciao for now xx
I had to check this out as I love stitching pieces with speciality stitches. Wow! I have signed up for the Around the World in 80 stitches SAL - quite a bargain for only 2 euros. I also love some of the other designs on the site especially Heatwave, Winter Wonderland, Alphabetissimo, Quaker Gameboard, French Fancy and Eightsome Reel. (and that's just in the samplers section) There are also some designs which would make wonderful wedding or anniversary samplers. And I've also downloaded a few of the free charts - some really nice designs.
So a big thank you Subtle Minx for adding to my ever growing to do list :T0 -
Dorastar - hope your DS recovers quickly. Dreadful weather to have something like that. I remember my brother getting it but I escaped. He was quite poorly but there were no lasting side effects0

Hi everyone, sorry for going ALOW... Life has got messy. I'm doing my very best to not let it get to me, to not get depressed, and I know stitching will help that so hopefully catching up will give me motivation.
Thank you again for all your well wishes re OH's car accident. He's fine now, just a little achy still. I Think he's over the stressed bit... But his car won't be repaired until mid June!!!
It'd be ok if some Drunk Spiteful IDIOT hadn't have crashed into my parked car the other night, and drove off, which is illegal and leaves me stuck re insurance claim :mad:. It may take 3 weeks to repair (front drivers wing completely stove in, bumper barely hanging on, wheel arch crumpled and door scraped). But what I'm most irritated about is that as it was a Vehicle Hit And Run, there's no one to claim against, and my Uninsured Driver Insurabce doesn't count, and Direct Line removed the curtesy car clause for this instance, i cant get to work (2.5 hrs on bus wont get me there on time), and I loose 8 Years No Claims, I have to pay the excess, and will have higher premiums from now on :mad::(:(:(
Sorry. I'm so frustrated with this. The police have basically advocated vigilanteism! The repair garage said Direct Lines quiet policy change has caught thousands of people out.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
OMG 23rdspiral, that is awful  was there any cctv where you parked the car? I thought a driver hitting our door and chipping the paint was bad, but that is far worse. You shouldn't have to pay the excess and lose no claims when it wasn't your fault. That is why i hate car insurance and wish you could choose to buy it like house insurance  I hope it all gets sorted soon, could you hire a car in the meantime? not ideal but better than the bus.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0

Rant away. It doesn't help but I totally understand your frustration as I was hit by an uninsured driver a few years ago. He came out of a side road and hit our car pushing us across the road and into a telegraph pole. He then ran off. It could have been much worse - we weren't seriously hurt but it cost me a lot over the next few years as I had to claim on my own insurance and although it was completely not my fault (the driver was eventually caught, prosecuted and jailed) insurance companies count a claim as a claim irrespective of fault. The car was a write off. I didn't have protected no claims or uninsured driver insurance because I had not long swapped from being a company car driver so had to build up my no claims over the next 5 years. And as I discovered it is in the small print of most car insurance policies that as soon as a car is written off the courtesy car has to be returned as the claim is considered to be settled. It is yet another example of insurance companies "only wanting to sell you an umbrella when the sun is shining". Every year when it was insurance renewal time I had to remind myself that we both escaped in 1 piece and that is worth more than cash. Didn't stop me ranting about it of course.......
Can you ask for alternative quotes for repairs as another garage may be able to do the work faster? Could the garage make it safe to drive if the issue is waiting for the replacement parts so that you could use it until the work is being done? Can anyone loan you a car? (this is what helped me - I borrowed a relative's 2nd car and paid to be put on their insurance for a month)
But most of all keep sharing your frustrations and if you can, relax with some stitching.0 -
Thanks for letting me rant, thats some really good advice. police say as CCTV wasnt checked within 3 hours they cant use it?! Erm, wht didnt they check it then?!
But now i have to ask now if there is a crying smilie?
I was just leaving the house to pop to the shop when I saw a van reversing our of my drive. I then noticed the (trespassing) British Gas man has knocked over part of our front wall, including taking out our font gate!! ARRRGGHH!!
I had read and caught up but must apologise I can't now remember who did what. Sorry for the losses, yay for doggie being ok at Vets, all stitching is coming on fab.
Id love to know which God have we offended? (actually don't answer that!) suffice to say A God is bored, and has decided to play with us. In the ladt month we've had to replace our boiler + rads + pipes, had TWO not-our-fault car crashes, and now this. dorastar hope DS is better soon. that's a nasty illness and one I thought was realllly rare nowadays.
23rd spiral you reallly are going through the mill. There has GOT to be someone you can complain too. How can''t the police/ insurance company see it WASN'T your fault and make you pay that's atrocious (sp?)
Well I got my implant out and back on the pill but my arm is AGONY. feels like i've got a knive sticking in my arm. Ibuprofen takes the edge off but wears off after just 4 hours meaning I can't take any more quickly. am praying paracetamol is gonna help as normally it doesn't touch my pain.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
