This has just arrived from Sew and So http://www.sewandso.co.uk/products/so-many-choices__dim-6861.aspx
It is done on Sail Cloth which I've never used before also the design is printed on to the cloth which I'm quite nervous about, there are also stitches called Stem Stitch and Satin Stitch which I've never done before.
I think I'll have to pluck up the courage to start it.
Stem Stitch is a variation of backstitch and satin stitch is just a series of long stitches laid next to each other. Both are quite easy once you have practised a bit on some spare fabric. My favourite stitch animation site here might help. I assume the kit came with a needle as you will probably need embroidery needles (wth sharp points) rather than cross stitch needles.
When I swap from doing cross stitch to doing embroidery I almost always stab myself with the sharp needle as I have got used to the blunt end of a xs needle
I love the design - I used to be a fan of lovely shoes (and have the feet to prove it :rotfl:) These days I can only look at such shoes and instead choose comfort over style0 -

Thanks for the lovely welcome. I have just been lookind at the H&E designs. The black and white ones are amazing. Has anyone done one of these? Do they look as good as the pictures? I really want to do one, I must not until I finish my latest project.
This is my latest project. Hope this works.

Thanks for the tips.
I'm stitching it for my Sister who loves shoes. I think I will practice first though or she may never get it and I don't think she's appreciate blood stains on the fabric.0 -

Sorry - must have missed your post, there has been a flurry of activity in the last couple of days.
I haven't done any of the black and white HAED's, just coloured ones (which I have been happy with) so can't really comment on the quality of them
Your retrievers looks very detailed - how far along are you with it?Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Thanks. Not very far, its the most complicated one I have done. I am also stitching it on 28 count linen. The background is coming on quick but the dogs are so many different shades.
I have Fibromyalgia as well which makes me lose concentration, also my right arm is numb from degenerating discs in my neck so sewing is getting more difficult. If I didnt love it so much I would have stopped years ago.
I have done lots of Lavendar and lace, mostly for presents for people. The retriever one I am doing now is for me lol.:TI am a Dolphin Angel:A
