    Thanks everyone xxx
Louise So sorry to hear of your loss. I think you are probably "sorted" now for your designs but I know that my issue Cross Stitch Crazy 161 has a smallish designs of the Pyramids of Giza if that helps at all. Your book of condolence is a lovely idea and something the family will treasure. Just a thought - you mentioned charting Dad but have you thought about charting his name plus Dad, Husband, Brother, Friend etc - there are lots of simple alphabets around and they wouldn't take long to stitch among the motifs.

I have got his name and his birth/death years, then underneath I have charted the words:
If love alone could have saved you,
    You would have lived forever.

Around this I have all the little motifs. The ones chicky and Skk00bie posted last night were useful, although I had to change them a bit to make them smaller, but they made a good guide to start with, and others I have just charted myself. I also have a motif with 'Dad' and the names of his 4 children around it. I was up until 4am, but it was good to keep busy and feel like I'm doing something.

  • Louise - Sorry to hear of the sad passing of your dad (((hugs))) thinking of you. The condolance book sounds like a lovely idea. I hope you find all the charts you need, are there any you still need? I'm not sure I have anything but I will have a hunt through my mags now.
Sorry cross posted - glad you have sorted it all. I am sure it is lovely.

Chickywiggle - thank you for asking, DS is doing great, was a scary night though he was really struggling, and had worring signs that he was becoming exhausted (flairing nostrils, use of accessory muscles, the start of intercostal recession - very scarey!) but by the morning (after back to back nebs)he was running round like a mad thing. It was weird being back on the ward where I trained, but knowing some of the staff was comforting when DS was at his worst.

Louise - just wanted to say how sad I was to read of your loss. Having only recently lost my own Dad in November last year, also quite suddenly, I can appreciate how hard these first days must be for you. I think what you are doing is a lovely thing. I am still trying to find the right stitch to do as a memory of my Dad but not confident enough to design anything myself.

Take care and find time for youirself as it is only too easy to be there for everyone else concerned but bury your own feelings.

    Big hugs

  • Louise, that sound lovely, really nice verse too. I hope you enjoy charting it and stitching it, something really personal.

I have been poorly so have spent most of my time stitching/sleeping. But I had to have a mad dash to HC this morning to get some skien to finish the last few stitches.

Dragon last time you saw it -

Dragon finished, I must say it does look really nice finished. I was skeptical stitching it but it looks quite nice :)

Now off to start the envenweave roses :o Quite worried about it but I am sure it will be fine. Still don't want to pick London back up yet....

Louise. Sorry to read about the loss of your Dad. I think the condolence book is a brilliant idea.
    Take care of yourself x

Louise - this sounds wonderful and I hope that everyone will appreciate it (and if they don't just ignore them). I know it's not the same thing exactly but I have had the "prepare yourself for the worst" talk from doctors about DH 3 times over the past 19 years and as a consequence have spent many hours in hospitals. I have found that stitching helps - it's easy to pick up and put down if needed and it helped keep my mind off the dreadful "what if" thoughts. I hope that you found that stitching this for your Dad helped you to focus on his life rather than the end of life. I will be thinking of you.
  • PAP - love the dragon Looks very effective now it is finished. Are you going to frame it or do you have other plans for it?

Louise - I checked my mags but couldn't find anything that hadn't already been found - sorry. what you have charted sounds really good, I'm sure it will look lovely and a wonderful tribute to your dad.

Lancs Lady - has your x stitch arrived yet? Mine hasn't I sent her a msg on ebay and she replied she would check with the post office but I've not heard anything back, that was 3 days ago.
. I also emailed the seller the other day as mine hadn't arrived and I got the following reply back "sorry for taking so long.now uk air mail sucks here.it updates very slowly.now many shipped to uk packages no on times delivery.my postoffices try contact uk postoffices many times.but no answer. please you patience waitting .hope you understand.have any question please mail me.Best regards."

Not really sure how much longer to leave it before asking for a refund. I would have liked to have taken it away with me for my Easter holiday. If it hasn't arrived by the time I get back from holiday then think I'll ask for refund (does anyone know if this refunds the postage as well?).

Kelly - sorry to be cheeky but in the books you have posted on the facebook page do you have a chart of a tuba? If so any chance of a ;)

Ailsb you can open a claim 14 days after payment for uk parcels, I think it's 20 for overseas.

so i'd put in a claim as it can take 7 days or more for a refund depeding how 'helpful' the seller is.

grrr half way thro my stitching last night i realised i'd been doing half stitches with 2 strands instead of 1....... was not going back to unpick it all!!
