Whilst waiting for paint to dry so that I can get another coat on I did some internet surfing ending up on ebay looking at cross stitch.
I stumbled across this kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAMA-SUTRA-CROSS-STITCH-TAPESTRY-NEEDLE-CRAFT-KIT-FUNNY-SEX-GIFT-HEN-NIGHT-NEW-/250903818341?pt=UK_Collectables_WeirdStuff_RL&hash=item3a6b087065
DO NOT OPEN IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED.
Okay who is going to be brave enough to stitch it and then display it afterwards???
Off to get another coat on the wall now.
There's an Etsy store with some even more graphic cross stitch charts. And Urban cross stitch has one which is funny, but probably not something many people would display on their wall!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

love the think outside the box stitch
cant decide what to stitch next someone bought me a blue bouquet of flowers kits for christmas and if im honest its not my thing, might stitch it later as a gift for my mum not after the titanic disaster i feel like treating myself to a kit i know ill enjoy (preferably on white or cream adia - it will be a long time before i stitch on dark again)
had a final cleaning attempt today by washing it in ace gentle stain remover put its not shifting you can even see the crosses through the areas ive stitched so im going to give up now and call it a day on that particular stitch project. i really do aprechiate all the advice suggestions and sympathy i recieved, but im going to draw a line under it now and get on with something else.
hope everyone has a lovely stitchy weekend and gets some nice kits and stitchy treats on sunday.SPC~12 ot 124

Can you recommend some usa shops that you use please?
:T
I have used Stitching Bits and Bobs lots of times over a number of years. They use flat rate shipping charges which for international is $18 so not worthwhile for small orders. They almost always have a sale at 20% off and also have good clearance sales if you like American designs.
I agree with everything that has been said about customs charges though I've never had this problem with this site.
DMC prohibit their US suppliers from selling their threads outside the USA so a lot of sites won't do it. The best way to buy DMC threads cheaply is to ask a friend who is holidaying in the US to find a Joann's where they often have offers such as 5 skeins for $1 (although it's a while since I've bought any this way so the price may well be higher now).0 -

Well 533 copies have been sold so presumably some of them must have stitched it :rotfl:0 -
...I found another UFO
Was looking for the threads for my ballerina and in a bag inside a bag I discovered this:
Joan Elliots Christmas Spirit (Crossstitcher Oct 2007)
So I can either do the Ballerina, a page of touched by magic or finish that one
Decisions decisions.....:rotfl:
That Joan Elliot is stunning! What Adia (?) is that stitched on Louise, it looks as if it has glitter inside it. I would love to use an adia like that on 'something'.
Not done any stitching ths afternoon, I may have had a power nap, seems to be the done thing in my new job. Now need to take Mum shopping so I might get something done tonight. Will still try and update you :j
I want to get my missing skiens for my Rose to try the evenweave but I am worried if I do that will be another UFO to the pile. Will think about it this week and may order it.0 -

It's Lurex Aida (pearl on white is my favourite)

louise - so sorry to hear smallies Ill . good catch. hope you managed to get some rest. can't wait to see your finished piece. that's some sewing 170
chicky- lol at ds2 I don't know how old he is but they make you chuckle don't they ?
well last night was a bit of a let down. I'm sewing a little freebie from a magazine. some flowers. really slowly. I checked what I did friday night after reading on here about using 1 stand and 6 strands. well I'd been sewing 2 strands so had to unsew it. then when I got going again one of the flowers was in the wrong place.
at least I'm learning and will teach me there is a thing such as half stitches. and there is a thing as using various strands.
note to self - read chart more throughly . and learn to count
I started the free kit that came with Cross Stitch Crazy this month yesterday. I had to have my "cross stitch fix" last night even though masterchef was on! Unfortunately, I stitched about twenty stitches before I twigged I had been doing whole cross stitches and should have been doing half stitches. The perils of being tired and wanting to stitch... and stitching on auto pilot!!
PS hope little ones better now louise
Louise I hope your little ones are feeling better soon. We have been dealing with that bug off and all all this year, all of us have had it at some point since January and DS1 has had it 3 times, he just went back to school today. I don't cope that well with vomit either. Look after yourself as well as them (((hugs))) Well done on completing candlelight, you really are a supper fast stitcher.
I just ordered the gorjuss runaway kit, I decided to order it from bothy threads instead of e*ay, not very MSE but I feel better about it.
have a wonderful Monday everyone.
Back along sew and so had a eeyore kit that I fell in love with. It was expensive, nearly £20 and I couldn't justify the expense particularly because at the time, lots of their pooh kits had 75% or 50% off. The kit contained two designs.so I suppose the price was justified. Anyhow I found the kit on another website and it was half the price that sew and so were charging so I ordered it, it turned up and I was disappointed. The kit looked like a fake (if its possible to have a fake cross stitch kit?) The pooh cover sleeve looked like a very good colour photocopy. The threads looked ok and I can't remember what the chart looked like but it put me off ordering from sites other than those I trust i.e. sew and so and although I do use e-bay, its typically for small low value items.postingalwaysposting wrote: »cat woman, great update's I too love the colours of the lady. Can't wait to see it finished.
Now this maybe a stupid opinion but why stitch something you are going to sell? I know its relaxing to stitch things and some people just love to stitch etc etc. But I would never stitch something I didn't like or something I didn't have a home for. To me its a waste of time, I would rather stitch something I liked and see it on a wall or as a gift. I also doubt that you could sell a finished cross stitch piece for that much, otherwise everyone would be doing it. I know that people do commisions but thats totally different as its a 'pre order'.
I just find it really strange, card making etc is different, but to me cross stitch (prob because its so time consuming for me) just isn't something I would think about selling.
I would stitch stuff to sell but it would be small stuff like no bigger than a coaster or keyring. and I wouldn't profit - the money from the stitched items would go to charity. I wouldn't stitch something as a commission because I would feel under pressure and that would spoil it for me. And I don't think you could ever put a price on your time.0
