Louise Your fairy would be even more sad if you just put her in the box - she deserves to be set free by framing and displaying her
Candlelight is a beautiful design - looking forward to seeing your progress with it.
Flat Eric - glad to see that XS won out over knitting for the weekend. I think someone else has queried the accuracy of the time estimates on kits and designs in the magazines. They must be based on Louise's speed of stitching not the rest of us mere mortals
I carried on with Noah's Needle yesterday evening - finished the 2nd giraffe and stitched the 2nd elephant (both cross stitch with a bit of backstitch and longstitch), then a row of Pulled 4-sided stitch, a row of Algerian Eyelet/Diamond Smyrna combination and finally a row of backstitch lettering. Really think that with a bit of perserverance I can finish this and it will be my 2nd UFO completed this year (thanks to joining this group)0 -
This is what Dalek Victory looked like at the last update (I had done the /// arms on most of the yellow):
And this is what it looks like now (did more of the yellow /// arms then added the \\\ arms on the yellow, bar about 10 of them, did some peachy coloured confetti and made a start on the /// arms of the reddish-brown) Just over 35 hours worth of stitching:
I was going to stop after the yellow to rotate on to another piece, but well, I was enjoying the block work lol.
PS. Please ignore the straggly bits, they are waiting to be secured under other stitches lol
Hope you've all had a good stitchy weekend :T

anyhow I digress , I went to buy some craft books on the Market (hate paying full price) and picked up cross stitch mag by mistake. well thought I'd give it a go and here I am.
so please bear with as I waffle on. nervous you see . and wish me luck as I stitch the free xstitch. bear in mind me and needles don't get on. it once took me 9 attempts to sew a button on. and I'm on my 2nd sewing machine as couldn't get on with first, mind you 2nd onces proving a problem too x
Welcome to the threadIf it makes you feel any better I am RUBBISH at 'normal' stitching and couldn't work a sewing machine to save my life

Now THAT is a very good point......I will make it my aim this month to get her and one other piece of work framed.
Good luck with Noah's needle - 2 finished pieces will be a good achievement! :T
Soulie - It's coming along nicely - your straggly bits intrigue me though - what do you mean you are waiting to secure them? Can you not secure them under stitches that are already in place? flowerofscotland wrote: »Benny - I have found Peacock Majesty and the good news is that I can't see any over 1 stitches. The instrucitons for the speciality stitches are usually good on JN charts.
While sorting through I found a duplicate chart "Be My Valentine" complete with beads and charm pack so that's for auction next time there is a free listing weekend
I was also inspired to get out one of my UFOs and stitch on it last night. It's JN Noah's Needle stitched on blue linen. I stitched the first giraffe, the first elephant and part of the 2nd giraffe last night and intend to carry on and finish it so thank you Benny :T

Thank you.
There aren't any/enough stitches in place for those loose ends at the moment, so when that happens I just pop it up through the top, so I know where they are, to save keep looking at the back
I could, of course, just secure them behind any old stitches, but I've found that those stitches can look odd, so I like mine to be secured on the same row they have been stitched on, and in the correct direction (left or right) to make sure that it all looks even.
Hope that makes sense! :rotfl:
Quick question while I am here....
When a pattern says 'over one' (on evenweave), I assume it means over one hole, rather than 2???
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing your technique
And yes - it just over the one hole = tiny stitching!Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Chicky - which "Stitch therfore I stash" chart are you sfter? The one on the facebook page or the one that was in one of the magazines last year? If it's the one from the magazine last year then I have found a hard copy which I am happy to scan and
.
Nearly finished the backstitching on the patchwork horse. Only got to back stitch the teddy. Once this is done I need to put it to one side until I know the details of my Nephews baby (due beginning of June).
Will post my picture of it once finished.
