Don't know if your taste or not but I really like these Janlynn ones, (scroll down to the 5th kit listed) http://www.blacksheepwools.com/acatalog/Kooler_Design_Studio.html

Thanks - that's exactly the kind of thing I meant :D

I love the winter one especially. Mind you, it would be a good few winters from now when I ever got round to finishing them :rotfl:

    Morning all,

    Wonderful progress as always ladies!

I've been so busy over the weekend that no stitching took place so I've no update on Dear Santa :(

I am so looking forward to my week off next week, I'll hopefully make up for it and make loads of progress! :D

Instead here is a pic of 2 christmas cards I stitched at work last week, each one took me around 2 hours.

    photo-5.jpg

I think I'd like to stitch them again but with a strand of gold or sliver thread to make them a bit more festive!

Flower of Scotland - that ribbon embroidery design is stunning, you've inspired me to try that one day!

I'll be back with a Santa update soon x

I saw someone on here mention that they had a set of "seasonal" pictures that they swapped as the year rolled round. What a good idea - four pictures for the space of one on the wall, I thought....

So...I need to find four (or possibly five if you count Christmas as an extra "season") pictures that go together as a set.

I stitched a seasons set for my aunt a few years ago with the thought in mind that she could swop them round during the year.....but she loved them so much she put them all up as a set :rotfl:

I keep meaning to do a set like that for myself but never get round to it

Despite the kits lining up in my storage box that still need doing I'm indulging in thinking about what else I'd like to stitch.

I like celtic designs, horses, cats, fantasy (but more dragons and dark elves than fairies), landscapes (especially seascapes or mountains). Like Louise I don't like to stitch flowers and I'm not fond of fluffy animals.

So - any ideas? One or more of you lovely lot will know exactly the designs I'm looking for!

What about the Lavender & Lace Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Christmas? Four of them are here The winter one is also on the same site.
  • I was just browsing Ebay looking at cross stitch items, not that I need any more of course, but I saw this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370497718909?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

It is absolutely massive but I really like it
Has anyone done one this big before?

I really like that, but I'm not convinced that it can be as big as the photo would suggest. The size of the fabric is only going to break down to three 12 x 12 inch pieces and it is 11 count, so it's going to be very quick to stitch. Not sure of the overall effect of working on something with such a big thread count though.
Just had a better look at the sellers other items and there are loads of similar things. As I said, I like the overall concept, but not sure of the materials.
  • I know what you mean. I've seen a few of his which I like, but I've never stitched anything so big and on anything less than 14ct.

I'm really tempted though, a few of them would look nice in my bedroom - I doubt OH would have them in the lounge or dining room

Thanks QueenB I do really love it, but I can't find a chart :o Only this which I am unsure if its the chart/kit, I think I will have to email the company.

However I have now spotted this, so its between these two now I think, unless PP has anything in mind. I know this new one is very modern though. I did another I loved but it would be too much to take on, its lots of counting and lots of confetti.

 at losing it, are you edoing the same one or another totally different?

I quite like the modern kooky designs and think which ever you decide on would be fun to stitch and look fab.

I just can't bring myself to restitch the same design so I am considering others. There is a nice one in the new world of cross stitching 188. It seems quick to stitch but a bit too pink so I will have to play with the colours.

*Louise* I love that fairy design, its on my to stitch list but must resist until my WIP is finished and then I have an Egyptian design to do for a friends birthday. I agree that to really comliment a finished piece it should be mounted and framed in a colour that compliments the stitching.

Just recieved my new world of cross stitching and had a quick flick through. Some nice designs and i think my boys will want some of the space designs done as that is a huge hobby of theirs. But what really caught my eye was the Joan Elliot unicorn chart in next months magazine:j

has anyone tried dyeing their own fabric? I want to have a go to save some money on the more specilaist aida but I'm worried about the dye affecting the threads over time.

Mine dropped through the letterbox 20 minutes ago, and the Unicorn caught my eye too, and I'm usually not a fan of Joan Elliott's work :o
In fact there's quite a few that I like the look of in the next issue :D

I'm not so keen on the free gift, next month's looks better though.
I like the Daffodil Wood by John Clayton, Margaret Sherry's Kitty, the Spring Bloom cards and the Space Motifs.

Right, off to adding more of my magazines to my database. Almost done with Cross Stitch Crazy section.
