London tonight (I have packed it up for tonight) -
This looks really good! Can I ask, is this from a kit? I've been looking for a pic of London to stitch for ages. Can I ask where you got it from please?Slimming World Target Achieved 13/09/12!0 -
Evening all...
Please could anybody recommend me some decent pinking shears for cutting the edge of my aida to stop it fraying? I don't want to spend a fortune but I dont want to get cheap ones if they are going to be rubbish. I'm not really sure how much I need to spend on these thing?
Thanks

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
LindseyandMatthew That dragon piece is beautiful, did it take you long? I haven't stitched on dark aida before especially as I don't have a daylight bulb at the moment:(
It didn't take that long really once I got into it, 2 to 3 months I think. I didn't have a daylight bulb either and this was my first go on dark aida. A white pillowcase on my lap helped loads though!BABY SOPHIE BORN 14/08/08Cross Stitch Cafe member No:37

Despite the kits lining up in my storage box that still need doing I'm indulging in thinking about what else I'd like to stitch.
I saw someone on here mention that they had a set of "seasonal" pictures that they swapped as the year rolled round. What a good idea - four pictures for the space of one on the wall, I thought....
So...I need to find four (or possibly five if you count Christmas as an extra "season") pictures that go together as a set.
I like celtic designs, horses, cats, fantasy (but more dragons and dark elves than fairies), landscapes (especially seascapes or mountains). Like Louise I don't like to stitch flowers and I'm not fond of fluffy animals.
So - any ideas? One or more of you lovely lot will know exactly the designs I'm looking for! What about the Lavender & Lace Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Christmas? Four of them are here The winter one is also on the same site.flowerofscotland wrote: »It might have been me that magscat remembered as I mentioned that I had stitched 4 out of the 5 of these designs and rotate them I stitched the Christmas one without the Noel wording so that it is less festive.

"One day" I will get to the last one (Winter)
Wow great minds think alike I was thinking of the lavender and lace celtic ladies - think you can get conversions online for other colours other than the ones that its designed with - link to all 5

How long did it take flowerofscotland? It is on my to do list to do them one day.
TMIF you have email!

Hmmm looked at those big x stitch ones and fell for them...... ohhh I really dont need more to do though almost halfway on Monster Bookmark number 1.
I am not over enthralled by anything in this months WOXS but perhaps thats a good thing?
Quite down OH and I fought all weekendmainly my fault but why are men so unreliable? or maybe I am OCD about details? What makes it worse is we only see each other once every two months if we are lucky, feels like a wasted weekend.

Sk00bie1 - your cards are really nice. I think if you did them in metallic thread they would look stunning. Have to say I can't think about stitching Christmas cards this time of year so good on you.
Lancs-lady - I've looked at these large three part designs before but not found any I like. I've just had a browse of these ones on ebay and really like this one here. Really tempted although as those that remember my UFO's I have loads to do. Also, slightly worried that all of the listings are private.
LindsayandMatthew - I really like the dragon.
PAP - London's looking good, it's very effective being shades of black with the bus being the main colour.
Sweetcarer - I love those Celtic Angel designs but would never get round to completing all of them, I know how slow I am.
HP_Sauce - I have a pair of Ikea pinking shears that my husband got me for Christmas and have to say they are great. If you have an Ikea close to you it's probably worth a visit they wer only £4.99 so I think they were a good buy.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Oh definitely red! :T
When mounting, I always choose one colour from the design for the mount to make it all tie in, it's amazing the difference a mount can make - in your case the red is perfect
Prime example was the fairy I stitched for my friends christmas (2010)- I actually took this one back to the framers and got him to redo it(Hubby picked it up or I wouldn't have even left the shop with it lol)

Morning all,
Wonderful progress as always ladies!
I've been so busy over the weekend that no stitching took place so I've no update on Dear Santa
I am so looking forward to my week off next week, I'll hopefully make up for it and make loads of progress!
Instead here is a pic of 2 christmas cards I stitched at work last week, each one took me around 2 hours.
I think I'd like to stitch them again but with a strand of gold or sliver thread to make them a bit more festive!
Flower of Scotland - that ribbon embroidery design is stunning, you've inspired me to try that one day!
I'll be back with a Santa update soon x
These are lovely and just an adaptable design - is it from a magazine?.
I've resisted the temptation to buy that ribbon embroidery design - I've added it to my wish list on sewandso and am hoping that one day it may appear in their sale:D
I looked through my stash of fabrics for something suitable for Dear Santa and found a piece of hand dyed evenweave which I think looks a bit like sky so I am going to use this I think
Hand dyed evenweave for Dear Santa by stitchyfeather, on Flickr
It's not as dark as the original or as the fabric you are using - do you think it will be OK?0 -
I really like that, but I'm not convinced that it can be as big as the photo would suggest. The size of the fabric is only going to break down to three 12 x 12 inch pieces and it is 11 count, so it's going to be very quick to stitch. Not sure of the overall effect of working on something with such a big thread count though.
Just had a better look at the sellers other items and there are loads of similar things. As I said, I like the overall concept, but not sure of the materials.
That was my thought- I love this design and also some of the others in the same range but not as all sure what 11 count aida would look like when stitched as there are quite big areas of blank fabric. But it all comes down to personal choice.0
