Louise, thanks for the adivce. I do agree with you taking the finished lady back because she certainly looks much better with a coloured mount, it looks less washed out.
Skoobie, those card designs are very sweet, I prefer the black on white though
Lancs-lady, wow that is an amazong design. However its not something I would persaonlly stitch because it would end up in a drawer. I would love to see if finished in a real life photo rather than a computer made image. Looking at it too there are a lot of white spaces so I don't think it will take too long. Good luck if you attempt it.
Queen.B, I think I will be stitching the modern one from sew and so, just beacuse I still haven't been able to find the chart. I will have a quick gander tonight on ebay to see if I can find the chart or this kit cheaper before I purchase one.
Ohh haven't see the new woxs, hope you can easily change it to suit your needs.
Alib, your patchwork horse is coming along really fast. I love all the different colours. Thankyou for your comment on London
HP, this one is a Ali design. She does chart/kit or a mix, I had the chart, fabric and 10 skeins for this design. Have a look at her places section as there are other London designs. My next London themed stitch will be Westminster, love the neutral colors in this design.

Nothing done to London since the update, have been unwell since the weekend and had to take Mum to hospital yesterday. Will be picking it back up tonight :T0 -
Just made the mistake of looking online for stitchy bits and came across Polstitches website. I have seen it a few times and lots of tempting goodies on there but has anyone used them beofre, are they reliable and does anyone know where I can get Kreinik threads at a reasonable price?
I have - I got my fabric for the ladybird fairy there.
If you're not sure what you want, give her a ring, she's really nice.
Kreinik is expensive, about £3 I think - sewandso maybe?
What're you thinking of making;);) Show us

Wow, so many posts in the last 24 hours, I can't keep up!KATYLIZ - I am loving the African Sunset! The colours are fantastic! My inlaws are currently on the game reserves in SA - something like this would be a fantastic present for them - too bad I dont like them ha ha ha ha. Have you been somewhere wonderful and this si why you chose to stitch it?
I wish Benny, but no! My parents picked it for me for my birthday last April purely because they thought the sunset colours matched my living room (they don't really, lol!). I've struggled to get on with it, but I'm making more progress lately. Well done on your roses, I'm one of those that doesn't enjoy stitching flowers, so I like to see others work
LindseyandMatthew - the dragon looks really good.
Skoobie - I like the cards, I think the white on black really stands out nicely.
Ailsb - good progress on the patchwork horse, he's really different and stands out well.
Looking at all the seasonal designs I have to admit I just couldn't be bothered to stitch anything on those lines. I like the idea of being able to switch the designs every season, but I know in my chaotic messy house it'd never happen and I'd end up staring at Winter all year round whilst the others got forgotten.
Haven't seen WOCS, but judging on the comprehensive run downs given here I don't think I'll need to bother looking through it as I don't think any of it would catch my eye.
No stitching from me in the last few days, too many hospital appointments going on. I have nothing to do all day tomorrow though whilst the kids are at school, so I can settle down and catch up on my stitching thenCross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -

*louise* WOW that is beautiful, it looks like the pagan fairy i finished earlier this year but for me all the dark colours where very challenging to stitch.

QueenB - Oh, she is lovely, I love purply-blue colours, I've done a few darker designs now, I actually prefer them becasue you can see where you are against the white fabric
I hope your friend appreciated all that hard work! She took me a lot longer to stitch than she should have but When I started the piece last year I was working full time, doing an MA whilst being a mum of 3. So the only time I really had to stitch was late at night and the colours made that difficult. I got about halfway through before putting it down for quite a few months. Once I really had the time and put the effort in I completed her in about 2 weeks so I think if I had to guess it should have only taken about 4/5 weeks to complete.
I can understand the idea of the darker colours being easier to see against the dark fabric. The Alice in wonderland piece i recently finished (for another friend) was a design that had a huge white tablecloth in it and as it was stitched on white aida it really got very boring and difficult unless the light was perfect. I think thats why I am looking at dyed fabric as it makes pieces like that easier.
Meant to add that what isn't clear in the picture is that the moon and feathers are shot through with different metalics which makes it really shimmer in the light, quite magical and yes my friend really loved it.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. That is on my to do list - I am trying to work on the moon goddess chart to make wee alterations to send on to Joan for her to check for me.
Made a start on my blue and white samplers - don't know how I can post updates as I have left it in my desk at work as I am doing it at work and I am not allowed a camera in my work. I don't want to keep bringing it home - maybe for weekends.
Hope all is well where ever you are
