mum2one-glad you had a trouble free outing and miss hoodies better. those wetherspoons are so handy . I've gone off mcd's . taken to carveries lately though with the two for £10 and a free ice cream. sound some right bargains in body shop.

rufus - I'm still trying to sew in between other things. I have loads of scraps but I'm a bit put off at minute since I made a fab cushion with little beach huts and bunting on. cut out a slogan with my machine and when I went to iron it burnt the material.... it took me to days to cut it out and sew. so proud I was and then 2 seconds to burn.

Mary - the way the weather forecast is you'll need thermal underwear . a coat and furry boots . won't have to worry what's underneath

Florence - every little added to total is a bit more . I haven't been very good this year , I've haven't done surveys at all. I decided the other day I'd make a start. the first one I done I filled all the personal details in and started answering some more things and it said I wasn't selected after 10 minutes so I gave up remembering I could do that for an hour and not get anywhere.

well I'm off out today . take my disabled friends out for their coffee. and then I best get some food organised as have numerous people staying until Sunday from tonight. i usually get the food organised before they come save messing about when they're here .

    Hello all :j

mum2one -well done. Good bargains you got there

susan - oh lor.........spent all morning searching the wardrobe for shoes..........found them and heaved sigh of relief -now you reckon boots ??? Oh well, least I've got some.........two pairs and easy to find. Bung some trousers on and they'll just look like smart shoes..........thats if the black trousers still fit ! Haven't worn them for over a year since I came out of hospital and my weights fluctuated since then. Oh dear.........I do hate these 'dressing up' occassions. Never seem to have the right stuff. Have got a full length wollen dress I got and wore for mums funeral.....not worn it since. Would that be right for a christening ? Oh well, I didn't buy it specially for the funeral so it would do with black velvet jacket --maybe.

Still recovering from family visit so apart from searching for shoes and finishing off christening card I've not done much at all.
Had loads of much needed rain but no snow thankfully. Please someone say it's warming up for the weekend

    Hope you're all ok

Mary - you can wear anything to a Christening these days. The last one we went to was last weekend and there were people there in all sorts of outfits. We found out after that it wasnt strictly a Christening, more a naming ceremony. The parents were told that to be Christened now you have to go to church for at least 6 weeks before and you need to do a course of some kind. I suppose its only right as that is what its all about. They have three children, the first had proper Christening about 4 years ago, the other two had theirs the other week and were given a bible each but no wetting of the head. We were in and out in about 10 mins.

Susan, sorry to hear about your mishap with the iron. I bet you were annoyed, I know I have done that so many times over the years. I always tell myself to try it out first on a small piece so I dont waste the good stuff but do I ever?? I made up the table cloths today, very pleased with them. There is plenty of fabric left over which should make some seat cushions to match although I want to get some foam for them first next time we go to Dunelm Mill.

Mum2one, glad you had a good day out, some good bargains there xx

Florence, hope OH gives you the voucher and well done on the EB sales xx

Well we had quite a good evening last night. OH and I joined a bingo site the other week, it was one of these deals where if you used a referral you got your original stake back (tenner) so we hadnt lost any money on it. I hadnt won anything and had used all my balance up but OH still had a couple of quid left so he put it on last night. Was on his last game and he won the full house which was £25. Due to some regulation with wagering he couldn't withdraw it all so had to play through £10 of it. Won a line on the next game which was about £3, then used what was left to buy tickets for the next game which was a bigger one and won the full house, this time £100. He managed to withdraw about £115 altogether so that paid for all the decking we have bought over the last few days. We were both well excited lol.

We had brilliant sunshine this morning Mum2one, silly isnt it lol. The sky came over black for a few hours this afternoon but sun is out again now, looks lovely outside. I wont be out in the garden this evening though, OH is off to work in a bit, back on nights again for a few days.

I am really happy, I have sorted out OH's birthday present. I wont put exactly what I got him in case he reads this site these days but its ordered and just about paid for. I just have to find £26 and I have a voucher coming for £20 so that will pay most of it off. It is due to be sent just before his birthday so will keep my fingers crossed.

I have seen something else he told me he wants on Amazon so I might get that as well so that in case the other thing doesnt arrive on time he will have something to open.

Havent done much else today really, just been sitting catching up on all my survey sites and writing out some reviews

    Hello all :j

No snow today but rain and more rain.........all day ! And cold !
Sorted out alternatives for christening depending on weather
Woolen maxi dress -its dark green-with black velvet jacket or if weather changes, floral jacket with either khaki green trousers, blue skirt or red skirt............not decided on which top yet. Least I have shoes !

Not done much today really but did remember someones birthday (hangs head in shame that I forgot it) so did a little stitched motto and made a quick card. Just have to finish off the stitched piece tomorrow, pop it into a frame and its done. Birthdays not not till 14th but these days things creep up on me before I know it.

Hope you're all ok and staying warm and dry -unless you're lucky enough to still have the spring sunshine:)

    Hi everyone,

Hoping for some ideas please. It's my Mum's 60th birthday in May and I would like to get her 60 presents.

I already have a No.7 set from the Boots sale as well as some face masks, hand cream, sweets and a Thorntons chocolate lolly. I now need some inspiration for cheap (or free!) gift ideas. Even if every present only costs £1 I will still be spending £60 so I'm hoping for a few very cheap ideas, as some of the things I want to buy her will cost more than £1, if that makes sense.

I have sent off for various freebies and have already received a few nice ones which will help to balance out the costs a bit.

I am happy to make things and have already decided to make a padded felt heart with 'Mum' on. I can't knit but I can sew and can try most other crafts to some degree :o. I enjoy paper crafts and also have lots of glass jars saved 'just in case'.

Very grateful for any suggestions, particularly for things I can make, as I'd like to get started as soon as possible.

What about filling one jar with 60 reasons i love you' or'60 memories of my childhood'. Put that as a label on the outside then write 60 things on separate pieces of paper (i used 1/2 postit minus tacky bit). I folded mine 3times and they fitted in fine though had to be ordered rather than just tossed in. Recipient was thrilled
