    Xmas Saver!
Rufus - sounds like you were well and truly spolit, I know asked before has he a single brother, even extend the catchment area!!

Junior - Sorry you had such a rough year, if theres anything you need just shout.

Skintscotlass - I do not fancy your shopping list, I had the 40th birthdays mine + best mates this yr. But I've got some gd friends 50th wedding annniversary in Sept, can't forget the date as Miss Hoodie was born on their 40th Wedding anniversary.. I've got mum + dads 50th in Jan 2013, I'm arranging wedding vows renewal, get together. Have the date booked in at the church but have to got to sort out rest.

Fedupandsknt - those presents sound fab, I'd love them.

slm6002 - welcome to the thread, your among friends, and between this thread and he sister thread (money making), we're get you sorted, so xmas eve you can put your feet up with a bottle of wine.

After the saga of the VW items, dreading how Miss Hoodie was going to react to the suitcases, last ngt were busy running round looking for receipts to take them back, found them, - so we gave them her this morning, and she loved them, wandering around the bedroom, doing her trolley dooly walk as she called it, there the best thing since buttered bread... she can't ait to use them on holidays... bless her heart.

Been very good looked at a couple of online sales and haven't brought anything!!
Off to town on Friday, next plan is do OU assisgnment, then regift the couple of presents and the spares we had in the shed, have a look whats about in town. But am hoping Boots do 75% sale, as between vouchers and points we've got about £100, which should stretch very well. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Morning all :)

 for all the milestone birthdays this year! I don't think we have any, a couple of 40ths but nothing terrifying and all gifts can be manhandled out of my stash if necessary ;)

Christmas has brought me the flu so my sales shopping is all online. I've bought all the cards I needed from Oxfam, have enough paper and tags left over to last me at least next year (tags probably for the next decade or two) and pillaged the Book People sale. A complete set of Agatha Christie audiobooks for £15 (RRP well over £100) and there's a 10% off code plus free delivery :money: Trying to think if there's anything else I need before I give up and huddle on the sofa.

I may have already finished almost all the Christmas and birthday shopping for this year too.
Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
    Three gifts left to buy

Hiya Junior. I've been bad at keeping up this year too. I aim to be here more often this year.

I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. Can anything be done about it? I hope they can for you. I'm glad you've had a good Christmas.
    .

Hiya hun. I am seeing the "top dog" neurologist tomorrow morning. My other neurologist thinks he may change meds or recommend surgery:eek:.
If its surgery it will be weight loss surgery to help me a long of with losing weight (even though I think I am doing fine on my own! ) then after that it would be brain surgery to fit a shunt into my brain which will drain the fluid into my stomach.. grim!

Managed to get a couple more gifts in the sale! :)

    Hello all :j

junior - fingers crossed for you x:)

Hope you all had a good time. We did........just me and OH what can go wrong ? I did wonder looking back on the year we've had but it all went smoothly. One son and his girlfriend got me a lovely little sewing box with bits and bobs in including cross stitch.......not keen on the little designs but found a 'primitive' pattern I printed out few years back and have done a christmas tree :T
Other son bought me a dvd -well pack of 3- of the gala day in the town we all lived in about 40 years back -he still lives there. All set to watch it this afternoon and whichever disc we put in kept sticking so we only got to see a few minutes. Disappointing and don't have the heart to tell my son so have e mailed the people who made the dvd.......might be just a one off dodgy disc and hopefully I'll get a replacement. Its not our dvd player -we used it the other night and it was fine.
As for next christmas/;birthdays.........well I've already got a few things I can 'upcycle'...........bath bombs for a start (don't have a bath now council installed a shower), soap dish with frogs face on it in bright turquoise  -so 'not me'......and matching toothbrush holder:eek:. So thats a few bits for a start. Think everything else I had though I'm definitely hanging onto as it was all very much ''my thing''. We did get bought a lot of jars of assorted pickles/relishes......not sure how OH's stomach would react to some but least they'll keep.
I'm now getting the urge to seriously de-clutter -again ! And OH's come up with the idea of knocking down the shed thats attached to the garage and creating a veg plot there !!! He says he needs something to look forward to.........thats ok as long as he's getting someone else to do it and not thinking of hurling a sledge hammer in a diy attempt -not after what a year he's had.
Next thing is to do what I did before christmas..........find the mini-sewing maching I like the look of and maybe actually buy it !

Hope you all had a great time and are keeping ok:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Got some more bargaina in the sale today :)

  • Thanks for all your sympathy for all the special occasions next year :D It was the same this year. DD was 18, Dad was 70 and I had one Uncle was 50 and another was 60. I guess when you have a large family that's just how it is and I wouldnt change it. However, it was quite easy to remember about buying the cards. I want to be very organised next year.

I'm heading south tomorrow, to Liverpool to stay with OHs family for a couple of days. Then we're heading to Snowdonia. DD was a bit hacked off, she thought Snowdonia was in Russia or Estonia or something and we were going somewhere really glam! She soon changed her tune when I told her its in Wales lol.

So I'll keep my eyes out for bargains in Liverpool. I always seem to do better down there than up here. Bizarre!

    Later lovelies
