  • Hello Flyladies, I hope you don't mind me slipping out of lurkdom to join you :o.

and now I'm going to do HHI...

HHI x 1 now done, and also sorted all the socks etc that were hanging about

    Next -
    another HHI
    sort washing into piles
empty rest of stuff in TD and sort
    HHI paperwork :(
    Full LBM 26 Sept 11
  • Final update of the year from me! :j
We've been to Ikea & bought a sofa for the playroom - I wanted the £89 sofabed but I was outvoted & we spent double that  DD managed to lose her brand new phone in there - but luckily it was handed in. Lesson learnt for her I hope ;) DH has put it together & it does look lovely.

I've done a hour paperwork & paid all the insurances for the next year.

And now I'm off to get ready for the house party we're going to at 7pm. DD is insisting that tights and hotpants are 'the look' to go for (sigh) & I really havent got the energy to argue. She is only 10!

Count some blessings from the year gone by.
I have so many things to be thankful for - we are all healthy and for that I am truly thankful. I have some great friends who support me when I need it as my family are a long way away. I have a good job that pays well & is fairly safe. DH has just been promoted so financially things are OK. I have two lovely kids who are so well behaved outside the home its almost untrue. People constantly praise me & I can honestly say that its not my parenting - they are just great kids :DBoth are doing well at school & are trying hard & for that I am thankful. We have a nice house and a holiday booked (which I am soo looking forward too).
AND - my Ironing basket is almost empty:rotfl:

    Still left for Next year!!

Get kids to clean their school shoes (rest of uniform is done)
    Delete some emails, old links
    Recycle any Christmas catalogues etc
Write a list of presents that need thank you notes
Phone somebody you forgot to send to or to thank them for their gift

    Ruth x

  • Oooh I forgot my Flying new Years Resolutions....
    • Keep up with the lists & dont slack off
    • Restart quickly if I do slack off :o
    • Make the kids do more - especially DS (DD is more willing & therefore ends up doing more than her fair share)
    • Go through EVERY cupbard in EVERY room & rationalise the gibble. I need to do this slowly & ebay anything saleable & chuck the rest. I WILL NOT keep stuff 'just in case it night be useful someday'
    • Decorate the hall & stairs & get new carpet
    Happy New Year everyone x

  • Hi everyone and Happy New Year!
I'm very new here, found my way after looking around the house and wondering how it got this bad!! There's only two children and I plus one dirty dog and a messy cat. This has to be my thing for the New Year (I'm not going to use the resolution word as I never stick with those!).
I look forward to trying to follow your ways!
Happy health and home-life to all.

Can't believe it - in spite of unexpected visitors for few hours this afternoon I have cleared a space in the study - that is an achievement!!!! - hoovered and mopped all public areas ie hall, LR, kitchen - all open plan which means I can't just close the doors on all the clutter- did the bathroom as well ( not open plan!) I am on course for little get together here to-night - just a few elderly neighbours who live on their own - as I never go out on NYE I started about 10 years ago having them round - and I love it!
2012 is very near and I hope with the help of Flylady to get on top of things. Peace and contentment to all for 2012.

DH has made me some rather lovely butter patting paddles and a vast quantity of reduced cream has been whizzed in the FP to lovely 4oz pats of butter. We also hot smoked a salmon for freezing in portions. Now making mircrowave lemon curd and some scones to use up the butter milk. Domestic godessing is here in force :p.

Sounds lovely, you two need your own tv show :rotfl:
resting and getting myself better after a dose of Tonsillitis

    Wishing you well real soon.

Happy New Year to each and everyone of you xx

Evening! Lovely to see lots of newbies joining us :D

msg - gentle hugs; thanks for the link to the calendar too x

I seem to be in as much mess as usual but I do have a suitcase and 2 bin bags full of stuff for the charity shop as well as a bag of rubbish so I must be making some progress!

Going to do some cross stitch tonight and watch a DVD or 2.

Hope you all have a good evening whatever your plans x

  • Well that's mighty annoying, just lost a post half-way thru  so let's start again...

    Evening all

A big welcome to all new flyladies, you will wonder how you ever coped before you found us :rotfl:

Big hugs to those that need/want them :grouphug:

I've not followed the official lists this week as I was away until late Thur and not feeling too chirpy on Fri :(

    However I have:
    • WM x 4
    • TD x 2
    • DW x 2
    • Closed my jobseeker's allowance claim
    • Decluttered a pleasant hour in the hairdressers so I am nice and neat for the start of my new job on Tue _pale_
    • Started to think about suitable office wear (it will have to be trousers as I can't get a leg-wax appointment until Wed week and I look like a yeti)
    • Made soup
    • Had Mum & Dad over for lunch
    • Put diesel in the car
    • Bought myself a small bunch of roses for New Year

Both the bumpkin teens are out tonight, and not back until tomorrow. I am chauffeuring DS & his GF later this eve and collecting DD & her friends tomorrow lunchtime. So once they are safely where they need to be I can open the cava and spend NYE in peace  I will probably be in bed by 11 at the latest :o I don't much like the jollities of NYE

However I am determined to be more disciplined in 2012 and get on with things rather than just planning. 2011 was a funny old year which I won't be sad to see the back of. Roll on 2012.

Special thoughts for those who are missing departed loved ones and finding this time of year not so jolly :heart2:

    Happy New Year!!

    Bonnie xx

I will happily adopt anyone who doesn't have burping competitions. Do all small/medium sized boys do this?
Only if there are more than one of them about;). They don't do it if they have a sister, rather than a brother, either.
Our Y6s who were in my Y5 class last year kept asking me if I remembered the day that one of the boys had dreadful wind (it really was foul) - all were much amused when I told them I didn't think I would EVER forget that day...

(It was so bad that I told the grandparent who came to collect him as I was sure he could not be well and/or he was resisting using the loo IYSWIM)

Oh msgnomey (I think) I posted that declutter calendar link on 2012ismyyear's thread and they are VERY appreciative. I DID mention I got it from here but not from you (as you haven't posted on that thread) - it's got some BRILLIANT ideas for decluttering on the calendar and blog!

Dead simple one - hook up all coat hangers 'backwards' then, when you do wear some thing hang the hooks the other way - 6 months later you can see what HASN'T been out of your wardbobe and can therefore be decluttered - how GENIUS is that?

You're so right Dusty - how about a YouTube channel hex? If you're shy the boys could be in front of the cameras, or you could not show faces...

well done on the decluttering... I don't have as much but did shift a lot when I was on sick leave (sheer boredom...). I assumed you'd be out or I would have asked whether you wanted to join me for a quiet night of DVD watching! Call/text if you feel like a walk and/or kitchen planning tomorrow (my tape measure is still out from putting up my curtain poles!).

I have made a list of all the house stuff that needs doing, thought about my plans for 2012 and written the essential thank you letters. I'm going to make this for supper and then watch the DVD OH gave me for Christmas and maybe write the inessential ones. If I have the energy I may have a bath before bedtime.

Here's to a happy and healthy New Year
