  • Sorry to hear the bill was more. You don't really have a choice but to pay it though hon. Life throws us curve balls, we just have to deal with them :(

Luckily you have made this extra money on EBAY and maybe you will make some more....just think if you hadn't of sold the DVDs....

You can look forward now and work out ways to cut the cost for the *next* bill.

  • Are there not those things where you dial a number *before* you dial the number of your friend/family that makes calls cheaper from a landline?

Also, what about using Skype? That may have been mentioned before, it is ringing a bell (no pun intended) for some reason...

  • Hi there. You sound really excited about the purim party and if you can afford it then go to it. It's unrealistic to say you will never go out and if it is a once a year thing....it's not like you are blowing £50 every week on it.

I find it helps to have something to look forward to, to focus the mind on. I have tried the "spend NOTHING" route and it just didn't work for me. I decided that I would spend money but I would just be selective about it. ;)

Oh I totally forgot about the Amazon thing, yes of course I can see the problem there! Sorry.

Yes I do sell on EBAY in fact I listed three things today! A skirt & a couple of beauty products (sample size that I had and was meaning to list for a while! I didn't steal your idea honest!)

Have you made sure that the two stamps definitely covers the 'new' postal rates set by The Post Office last year? Just a thought, would hate for you to underpay.....

    Hi :)

Well I will see about the party because need costume too etc - will see, right now I am more excited about saving money to be honest. I see how I stand whe I am back from my parents. I kind of think they might want to throw a few pounds at me, they usually do... fingers crossed :)

well the new rates are ok since its cheaper than 64p. I was only worried about the method, but seems it will be fine... lets hope, I will keep you posted!!

Good luck with the samples! where do you get them from? I went sample hunting on saturday but had little luck...

    :) thanks for writing :j

Well, this would be an excellent idea if I actually HAD a landline that is accessible for me during the day, but I am quite busy apart from weekends and I leave the house at 6:30, coming home at 11pm ish, I cant really call people then, so I am always using the mobile... are there any cheaper options for mobiles? I was wondering, maybe it would be worth buying like £10 worth of international talk time, etc (orange offers this) but how do I find out how many minutes does it give to me etc... not easy but this huge bill just made me realise I need to do something about this. I cant let this happen again.

  • My samples came with some (different) product I ordered for myself from Beaut Expert (internet site).

But I won't use the samples myself so may as well try to sell them.

  • The Orange website may shed some more light on your options for calling abroad. I am on PAYG and don't really call abroad very often so I can't give any advice more than that...sorry....

Is there a forum on this site that deals with mobile phones? They may be more specialised...

I'm sure you will be able to sell them - I sold ALL my samples (actually I was surprised) - someone will want them! :) let me know how it's going!

  • Now I quickly went to the orange website and analysed my bill. turns out I had 100 texts incl and additional 120 at £0.106! this means I paid additional £11 for texts. I chenged my text bundle from 100 to 250 from £6 to £13, this means I will only pay £7 more a month - saving: £4 (thats not a lot) I also bought £10 worth of international calls as a trial. I WILL spend £10 on it, no doubt about it, so there's nothign really I can lose, so I will give it a try and see at next bill what happens. I can cancel or change the budles at any time for free.

And next month I will get a better plan, maybe an upgrade, and then I will sell my free upgrade phone... and get a lot of money!

Now I will check out the mobile phone forums... thanks for the link!!!
