sa = sales assistant0 -
Hardly anything in Maidenhead, basically only one of the upstairs aisles of sale stock left which is unusual. Not sure about the specific items you've mentioned.0

SA = Sales associate.
I agree, it's painful to see stuff reduced even further but you are taking a chance that she will put it behind the till/have it herself and not back on the shelf.
Sometimes I buy something in the sale then there are loads left so I think 'oh it must be rubbish' and take it back! Likewise, the minute something is sold out I instantly want it. Crazy thing called human nature I think.....!
Goodness as I was typing this several others replied! Does this mean the thread is gaining pace again in hot anticipation of Wednesday, LOL!!!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

I haven't tried this nor would I want to. I am not sure if the SA could refuse reselling the item at a lower cost.
I bought quite a few Sanctuary sets at 50% off and if I wasn't happy with the price then I wouldn't have purchased them in the first place. It is a bit annoying seeing items being reduced further after you have purchased them but if you know about the possibility of further reductions and hold off you might not be able to get what you want in the 75% off sale so I got what I wanted at 50% off.
Another way around would be to purchase again and take other items back with the 50% off receipt but the items might have sold out.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

I bought two fragrance gift sets for myself last year before Christmas and ended up getting the same ones as gifts for Christmas. I returned my unused sets to Boots and the SA wanted them for herself.
While I was looking around in Boots last week, a lady returned the Paco Rabanne Lady Million set (which had flew out of stores and online too) the SA put it behind the till instead of on the shelf so I guess she wanted it for herself. Luckily I had managed to get it on Boots online on Christmas Eve otherwise I would have asked why that one was behind the till.

I often see this happen in Boots, especially with fragrance gift sets.

I am exactly the same, even with none sale items and clothes. If there are loads left I think it must be rubbish and often don't buy. Then when I go back and notice all sold out or no longer in my size it makes me want it even more!
Well if there is a queue, she's hardly going to leave the till and make it a top priority to put the item back on the shelf. Also, they usually have a specific person who puts things back/clears the tills, which is why she may have put it behind the till. Also, with fragrance sets, they have to ensure the fragrance/creams haven't been tampered with.
People forget that sales assistants are also human. They like a bargain, just like the rest of us and they are equally entitled to the bargains as the rest of us. When you return something, you are saying it is UNWANTED. The item is no longer yours! The SA can help themself to it if they want!0 -

I never said there was a queue. The fragrance counter was empty on both occasions. SA gave the lady a refund, put the gift set behind the till and walked off. The item could have easily been put on the sale stand next to her along with the other reduced gift sets but she probably wanted it herself.
I think I and others had pointed out that SA's often want the returned item themselves. That doesn't mean we 'forget that SA's like a bargain and not entitled to a bargain'! Where in my post did I say SA's aren't entitled to the item? I was simply stating, returning an item and hoping to purchase again at a recuded price can not always go as planned as SA's can often want the item themselves.
ETA: As for the SA having to check the lotions haven't been tampered with. I was with a friend yesterday when she exchanged a fragrance set in Boots. SA put it straight back on the shelf before the refund receipt even came out of the till! Wouldn't it be wise to check before refunding payment and not after!A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

The fact that you would have questioned her if you hadn't already got the item you wanted suggests that you were unhappy that she put it behind the till. When SA's encounter customers like you, who think they are the only ones entitled to bargains, they become grumpy/rude to the rest of us who mind our own business and pick something off the shelf which is available to us, rather than keep watchful eyes on SA's.
I didn't know SA's were like beggers, pouncing for any returned stock. :cool:0 -

I plan on doing this as well. Or if you feel embarassed and they're still selling your purchases, just rebuy them and return the more expensive ones on another day0
