Lloyds CPD marker automatically drops off ?

  • If I had a CPD from Lloyds I would become an ex Lloyds customer and go elsewhere - even if it was a basic bank account or a savings account with a cash card.

Because of the nature of the accounts, the Cash Card account for sure does have CPD99 placed onto the account automatically as it does not offer any credit facilities and never will to the customer.

  • This is a rather interesting thread I have never really understood this CPD as it all appears to be very inconsistant from person to person.

I was going to apply for a classic account in the new year with a £100.00 overdraft as a buffer. But im not sure if I would be knocked back as I have an 5 year and 5 months old CCJ.

So am I right in thinking that if you have any adverse data lurking on your files they will allow you to have the account but restrict the lending for example overdraft and cheque book?
  • Personally I'd wait the 7 months and then apply, as a new customer it may get knocked back. But I agree there seems little consistancy with the CPD markers and how they get added.

I've been a customer of theirs since the year dot, starting out with a TSB account my dad opened when I was born, so a very long time. That probably helped with the 2nd and 3rd classic accounts being opened very recently and confirmation that my internal score was high enough to have a premier account with them if I wanted one, but I turned them down as I have no need for it.

Their inability to answer the simplest questions about this sort of thing by any means other than holding a seance is what prompted me to leave them.

It's more likely that the staff do not know the criteria for a CPD to be added, or taken away, as it's more likely down to how the computer is programmed and if that is the case then information like this is usually kept secret to those who need to know. Your average customer rep, would not need to know.
  • I know that NatWest has something very similar to CPD also - I can't remember what it's called either.. One reason why I could not get the Purple Visa Debit Card and only the Blue Full Auth one.

I have a confirmed CPD marker on my account, saw it with my own eyes when I was in the branch two days back signing the paperwork for the card.

And yet they gave me a credit card with a 2000 limit a few days back.

How would you explain that ? I'm confused myself

That means they are happy to offer you the card at present based on your current conduct within the banking group including information from your credit file, but are not willing to accept any further credit at this time to you.

The CPD marker can also be applied even if you don't have any bank credit elsewhere such as a default, they do this to make sure you run the new credit with them in tip top shape before offering you something else in the future.

It can all change within a month at Lloyds TSB! When I spoke to them they said to a customer they had an offer for a loan, would they like one? They refused saying they would think about it, came back next month the offer had gone! It's a strange system.

    Thanks @coolesticeking.

That explains a lot. It showed I wasn't eligible for a mortgage etc yet, not that I need one anytime soon lol.

I thought the CPD marker would fall off automatically when I get and start the card. Hopefully I can ask them to appeal it, and get the marker removed, not that I'm expecting much out of it, but you never know.
