I'm very impressed with all these statistics people keep reporting - walking in this weather is an achievement in itself especially an extra long route, and people seem to be saving real money. :D

gallygirl - LOL, the Biggest Loser training team is rather pretty all round! Well that's all to the good if it helps us lose weight! I was very stern with myself and didn't have any of DH's chocolate that he was eating beside me. It wouldn't do, somehow.

I got my first exercise in a while - walked about 2 miles and was quite tired because of it. Need to get back into my normal routine.

Money - I saved £3.03 from grocery shopping and £10 from a cancelled piano lesson, total £13.03. I also found a discarded receipt with 43 clubcard points on it but I won't add that until I get as far as adding them to my card. (Why do people just chuck the points away? Do they not realise it's money?)

I've just done some research for my cunning plan to get £5 a month off the H@lifax by getting a current account there and making payments through until I've paid £1000 each month - even if it's the same money going round and round. :rotfl:
I found something that's not been mentioned here but I have found it elsewhere on the forums.

Now I have no experience of this so I'm not really making a recommendation, but I'm posting in case anyone wants to investigate on their way to two grand. If you switch your current account to them, including all DDs and SOs, they will give you an additional £100. If both of a couple do this with separate accounts, it's going to be £200 and I think (though don't quote me) it applies to joint accounts too.

The £5 a month applies whether overdrawn or not but interest is charged daily and is rumour has it is quite steep, though I haven't found details yet, so it might only be worth doing if you could keep that account in credit or only go minimally OD.

Looking at their T&C I think they are anticipating clever and organised people milking this for all it's worth so they have a cap on £100 claims in any 12 month period.

The offer is running till 19th Feb. Details here.

  • Not doing so well so far. My weight has stayed more or less the same for 3 weeks, which I suppose in some ways is good, its not going up and I have got away with a lot. Increased exercise and back to bootcamp has probably helped with this.

Moneywise not doing to well yet, but I put in a lot of overtime last month, so end of the month should be good when I get paid.

Can I still join in? 2 stone and 2k would be a good start to the year and a good interim target. Sorry to those who have been hit in the pocket by the storms - glad tho that nobody is hurt.

I looked on Mazuma to see if my old and trusty phone could go (my upgrade from last year is still in the cupboard) and the offer was......£1 - think I'll hang on to it instead!

Off now to see if fuel companies are hanging on to any credit - hopefully no nasty suprises!

  • Couldn't quite face getting up early enough to walk 4 miles this morning - stuck one arm out from under the duvet to test the temperature and bottled it!

Walked my normal 1.8 mile route instead and did it in 28 minutes - usually about 35 when not on a forced march (it's a steady gradient uphill most of the way).

Got a circuitous route home planned - 6.5 miles :)

On the money front today should be a NSD, and 2¾ hours OT is planned - adding £28.68 to the extra earnings pot.

I'm doing well on the diet, but not on the exercise (I have a cold and the weather is vile!). Diet has been helped by copious amounts of fennel tea - every time I think about chocolate! My evening post-work glass of wine has been replaced by V8 which has the bonus of adding another portion of veg. I have also arranged to go for early morning walks with someone else locally who works from home. However, I haven't yet replaced my pedometer battery, started recording my eating online, or got in touch with the the personal trainer (who owes me some sessions from before I had to stop exercising last year) all of which I need to do.

I've just got time for a little light housework before work, which I'm sure will use a few calories!

Feeling a little conflicted at the moment - finishing of the christmas left overs is money saving but not necessarily helpful in the weight reduction department
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Think of it as weight you would've gained anyway if you'd eaten it over Christmas - sort of deferred weight gain if you like :D
