Hi all,
Well I have been good today and haven't had any chocolate today. Have agreed with one of the girls in the office I work at once a week, that we aren't going to eat any chocolate until my birthday which is in three weeks time. Hopefully this as well as doing more exercise will help me on my way with the weight loss.
@MrB - unfortunately when you said no accountants were reading this thread, I am an accountant so I will be reading but I have thought about it and have decided I am fine to count any new jobs I get during this period as money earned. So thanks for adding to the list of money earnt.
We will be playing Loft Tetris this weekend in order to unearth some items to be sold on ebay. First on the list is one of the highchairs which is in the kitchen and is no longer used. Need to have a bit of a clean, then it will be listed.DD1 born May 2002, DD2 born Dec 2005, DS born Dec 2008. Baby due May 2010! TEAM PINK!!

I think i'll try this as a bit of a new years resolution. Although I am only aiming for 1 stone. I have already lost 3.5 stone since June 2010 bringing me down to 10.5st so a 2st lose might be a bit unrealistic.
I'll def try for 2k though. Would be nice to pay off some debt and pay off a wee holiday before April!
Never done anything like this before so anyone point me in the direction of some pointers/guides on how I can achieve this please? Thank youFree stuff is GOOD stuff0 -
First bit of money saved towards my £2k! I had £140 Christmas money but thought I was going to have to use it to repair the garden fence (blown down in this weeks strong winds). My neighbour told me today that she wants concrete at the bottom of the fence so she's going to pay for it herself! How amazing is that? All she wants in return is some home baking :j I will do lots of nice baking for her
. Woo hoo, I'm off the starting block :j:j

Totally GUTTED! Was hoping to sign in today and report a massive £394.98 dent in my £2000 challenge and then the blinking winds hit............:mad::mad: This was money LEFT OVER yes that was LEFT OVER ie UNSPENT from last month....:D:D (There was a DH bonus paid which cushioned Christmas and for the 1st time in 4 years finished the year with ZERO overdraft :j:j
Damage to roof costs £500...got the quote down from £850:eek:...
Insurance excess £300, will get £200 back in the next few days.
I had set a budget of £500 to do us for the month of January which has now been downgraded to £200...talk about "counting your chickens". I'm now away to work out if £200 could actually stretch given that the cupboards/freezer are bulging and I have really only petrol & diesel , milkman, window cleaner, school funds and weekly Boys Brigade/Girls Brigade costs to cover.
Will keep you posted....if any of you are remotely interested:D:DMust learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D

Oh that is terrible! Very glad you seem to be unscathed but nonetheless that's a lot of money.
If it's the slightest consolation, at least you will have brand new roofing which will save on repair bills for a while. Do have a really good check round for any peripheral damage too - it's surprising how it can add up. We had an insurance claim in the autumn and they were quite happy to pay for silly little things that got damaged - and if I'd thought I would have put a claim in for food I had to throw out because we couldn't cook it - even £10 or £20 all adds up (says she preaching to the converted).Miggy

Eeeekkkkkk , who's watching The Biggest Loser? New SAS guy is well scary (and well fit

Haven't weighed myself yet (am expecting to go upwards though ).
£41 to report Mr B, Peefer the Mortgage Pig coughed up. DD owed me some money and gave me a few bags of coins. I knew if I put them in the piggy it would fill it, so I could just have left them and emptied the piggy but that seemed wrong so I emptied them out, forced them into Peefer then emptied them all out and rebagged them :rotfl:.
Have also got £120.50 to pay off BTL mortgage but as that is from regular income I'm not counting that.
Together they knock a month off the projected pay off date, now July 2019, but the intention is it will be paid off by the end of 2012 :T.

Oh dear tryingtobegood, this bad weather has a lot answer for!! As miggy says, at least you will have a new sound roof over your heads, and no-one was hurt. Well done on having money left over after Christmas though, :T:T or this unforseen expense would have been a much bigger trauma.
Well, DH has paid off last month's cc bill today, as well as DS1's next instalment of Uni accommodation fees. :j We usually don't get the big Christmas cc bill paid off until March/April, so pleased about that. Now we are trying to see how little we can live on for the rest of the month, so the rest can be saved.
The plan is to try and live off DH's salary (we've had to do that before when I was ill/out of work), then save all that I earn...could be interesting if we manage it! I want to increase the monthly payment to the 0% cc, so it will be completely cleared before the interest-free term ends...we have 15 months!! Then the rest needs to be saved for various house spends, as well as DS2 (hopefully) heading to Uni come September ...aargh!
Right, need to go and do some paid IT work tonight, tedious data entry, but it pays well!

Right well, the weight loss has kind of got off to a start of sorts :rotfl:
Did a longer than usual session in the gym, but then I've ruined it by eating waaay too much cheese for tea! Not had any snacks today tho so spose thats summat!
Money wise well I've not spent owt yet this year except direct debits so not really started this yet.
Have decided I am going to count in my "savings":- any income from extra work or presents (not likely as bday is July!)
- any increase in pay (definitely not likely!!!)
- any reduction in overdraft that I make month on month
- any reductions on my bills I make by switching
- cash back when i switch
- anything on receipts that says "you saved..."
- however much I have in my piggy banks
- any money saved by buying in sales/student discount
- any money saved by using vouchers/points instead
