I'm soo happy for all you lovelies (!!!!!!,evilsquid, Sparkles...and anyone else that I've missed, 'cos of how many ladies there are on here now!!!), that have managed to "release" some weight...read recently that if you keep the the term weightloss as part of your vocabulary, then your mind will fight against your body in parting with your excess poundage, 'cos what do you do when you loose something? You go looking for it/replace it, and seemingly that is the way our minds think and work...they don't want to LOOSE something which has been gained for whatever reason, especially if if was for self-protection!!!! So, maybe try telling yourself that you want to release you extra/excess poundage instead... a bit new-age-y, but hey, what have you got to loose (LOL), and if it works.....!
i'll try it and tell you all if it works next week!0 -
LOVE your post LL and TOTALLY agree with what you say!! The butterfly of happiness is indeed well nigh impossible to keep a constant hold of!
Another c, for me, is remaining constantly curious about life.... this is what keeps me going, even with very little social day-to-day interreaction. Watching the birds darting about, seeing Mother Natures' daily display of often magnificent cloud formations, plants coming into bud, weather events such as the gales that have lately been blowing about...all this stuff takes hold of my thoughts and imagination and lifts my spirits, instead of just letting my mind concentrate on my isolation, and gives me the contentment that LL was talking about. Of course the interweb is just brimming with stuff too, and I love it!!! Don't know how I would have managed if I'd retired 20-30 years ago...probably gone off my head with just reading even more books than I already have, and had the telly on constantly for company!!!
And, if we aren't already doing it, then starting to cherish oneself is, I think, vitally important too!
What a lovely post, Curiosity was on my list too - you've put it so beautifully too.
It is a big beautiful world out there - full of wonder and magic.
Like millions of people I adore watching David Attenborough. I believe he is well into his 80's but his enthusiasm and curiosity is so infectious.
And you're dead right about
Cherish - yourself, your families, your friends and your loved ones. Life is short - cherish everyone who means anything to you, the time you have and every day you are given.0 -
lizzie well done for not letting it get you down.
cellulite woman's mortal enemy- or mine at least :rotfl:
circulation- poor circulation and removal of fluids and toxins is a major contributor to cellulite, so try dry body brushing, exfoliating loofah mitts and knuckle massage to get the blood flowing. Be rough!
caffeine don't drink it, wash with it! Massage coffee granules into the skin with firm circular motions then rinse off.
exercise- whilst you can't spot reduce fat, exercise will lead to overall fat loss which will lead to a reduction in cellulite. Building muscle will also help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Building muscle on the lower body is really easy, just grab something heavy and squat, lunge and jump your way to a firmer thighs
here's a good article on using aromatherapy to increase circulation and reduce cellulite http://www.anniesremedy.com/remedy_use138.php
Thank you so much for that adelight - lots of fantastic frugal tips and advice re the dreaded cellulite.
There are of course lots of salon treatments but they do tend to be a bit expensive.0 -
Hello again
Thank you so much for all your "C" contributions. I have tried to separate them out to make it easier for those of you who are cutting and pasting for future reference.
Had a lovely lunch with Mum & Dad - hadn't really seen them properly for ages. Time for a quick cup of tea and a little "power nap";), cook dinner and then off to see OH.
House still a tip - mañana :rotfl:0 -

Hi ladies, not been on here much over the last few days but am continuing with the fabbing. Tried out the No 7 foundation brush that I bought the other day and really pleased with the results, definitely gives a better finish. Have another No 7 voucher so am going to get an eye shadow brush next time. Had some vouchers for Christmas and am thinking of getting some bronzer, at this time of year I am deathly white so wondered if it may give me a bit of a healthy glow but don't want to end up with an orange face especially as the rest of me will be white (not a good look!)
Have also been keeping to my healthy eating plan, weigh in day tomorrow so hopefully some weight will be lost. !!!!!! well done on your weight loss!0 -
LL and skymist thanks for your lovely posts on the 'C's'. I have spent the last few days decluttering and feel much calmer. Still a way to go but it's a start. I agree 'contentment' is very much overlooked and we spend so much time rushing around, we often forget to stop and appreciate the simple things in life. We also spend so much time looking after others, we forget to 'cherish' ourselves which is why this thread is so great, it gives us permission if you like to look after ourselves!0

Hello everyone
Managed to get to the gym last night, so didn't redo my nails. I will do them tonight while watching the tv. I can't mooch around the kitchen opening food cupboards if my nails are still wet, can I?
Take care all

managed to find a magnifying mirror so i can see to do my make up - 49p from quality save :j
also got a book delivered from amazon that i bought with some vouchers i had. its the Clean & Lean cookbook by James Duigan. it was written by Elle Macphersons personal trainer and is basically slimming world plus lol. i love the original two books and theres some interesting recipes in this one that i can't wait to try. helpful for the C's today is his mantra of "cut out the CRAP (Caffeine, Refined sugar, Alcohol and Processed foods)" to speed weight loss and improve general health and wellbeing.
i have a session with a personal trainer tomorrow and another on fri. still can't walk from the run on monday :rotfl: I've been hobbling around all day and DH's run (0.5km less than mine AND slower!) has crippled him so badly he can't lean down far enough to sit on our sofa and so he's sat in the middle of the living room on a garden chair :rotfl:0 -
findingmyway wrote: »Hi everyone,
Can I ask if there are any other single ladies out there? I am just feeling very disheartened at the moment and missing having someone to give me a hug and curl up to on the sofa. Maybe you could just remind me that its ok to be single, and at times, actually quite fun.
I'm single (well nearly divorced!) and at first I was a bit nervous about it all (not having been single for 10 years or more) but I have now come to terms with the fact that I quite like it - I can please myself and don't have to worry about what someone else thinks, says, wants to do etc
The only thing I miss (certainly not the mess that a man makes!) is the odd cuddle and very rarely a bit of rumpy pumpy! I have the dog for cuddles and I suppose if I really wanted to engage in the naughty stuff I'd make more of an effort to meet someone new - just CBA at the moment - never say never though!
Today's fabbing was all well and good (looked respectable in nice clothes, make up etc going to work) until I got home and walked the dogs and got drenched and am now a trackie wearing, frizzy haired blob! Oh well , as there's only me and dogs here that don't care I don't care either!
Will have a nice bath after the last dog walk and find some nice clothes for tomorrow. Feel a bit flatter and less bloated today - weigh in tomorrow so we'll see if anything has happened weightloss wise. Prepare for a paddy if there's no change!0
