I'm in! Please
I'm only 27 (almost 28) but have let myself go quite a bit
I had already decided that this year I want to be beautiful & this thread will be fab!
Primarily I want to lose weight which will help me feel better about myself in lots of ways. I also want to be fitter & healithier & make more time for pampering myself.
My aims for the summer are:
Lose approx 40+lbs through healthy eating & exercise.
Build up to running 5 miles
In the shorter term I'm off to have a bath in a minute inc a face mask, scrub etc. Followed by a mani/pedi on the sofa in front of the telly.
I would like to pamper myself for an hour or two once or twice a week.... Shouldn't be too hard should it? although its taken me all day to read this thread
I'd love to know what sort of clothes to wear. I'm a porky size 16 (want to get back to a curvy size 12) & I really don't know how to flatter myself.... My fat is pretty much evenly spread leaving me no 'good' bits! I'm also a pretty much full time SAHM & wearing dressy clothes isn't practical (my youngest is a 'runner'!). I would like to 'cool' but don't know what to wear. And because I'm over weight I do't like to treat myself to much....
Re: sports bras (can't remember who asked) I thoroughly recommend shock absorbers. Got a new one yesterday in Debenhams sale for £20 - they go up to about £30. I'm very well endowed and they are great!
Re: dry, flaky lips (again, I can't remember who asked) yesterday I bought a lip scrub in Lush (half price) & I think its lovely.
Good luck everyone :beer:1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100
MFW 2013 no. 62 £10,000/£10,000
MFW 2014 no 62 £8000/£70000 -
Sorry, can anybody tell me why the word 'to' has been highlighted in red in everyone's posts? I know this is something obvious and I am being stupid, but I have never noticed it before.0

evening all, hope you are feeling just that little bit fabber than you did last year, know i am! started the new year with a nice shower with my aromatics shower gel on my body puff thingy, gosh it smells divine, followed it with an all over moisturise and then an hour and a half walk before the rain started, also stayed within propoints!!
anyhoo, observations from the pub last night
1. while size is an issue to many of us, i would certainly say, having a great smile, with a happy face, framed with fab hair means a lot more and is a sure fire way to look and feel fab, no one looks fab with a miserable mush!
2. but alas size is an issue, if nothing else, think of your health, but what made some people look "fatter" than others was wearing the correct size, there were size 12's who looked bigger than size 16's as a size 12 in a 10 dress does not look good, if you see what i mean
3. another sure way not to look fab was to look "dated", a pudding bowl haircut with old fashioned glasses and a granny dress looks carp on a 90year old, let alone a 50 year old or younger!
4. 6in heels can look great, but if they make you walk like a duck, don't wear them!
am sure there were more, these were the ones i can remember, think i have been guilty of all of them!

Happy New Year all!
annem38 - great observations! You are absolutely right that wearing the right size and being happy makes you look better.
I've been keeping up the fabbing - at least the basics. Today has been more relaxed but I'm still showered (even used matching perfume and shower gel!) moisturised and dressed in nice clothes - think my DH was a bit surprised!!
I have one resolution which is to make more effort in things I do, which I know is vague but I have things I enjoy but sometimes can't be bothered to do (cooking, baking, walking) and my house looks so much better if I just spend an extra half hour a day on it. This is leading to a bigger list I think though as some ideas I've got already are:
- date nights with my DH
- eat more fruit and veg
- try a new recipe every week
- bake once a fortnight0 -
I would like to join the sisterhood and be a Summer Solstice Sizzler!
I have decided to make 2012 a new year for me. I am going take every day all 182.5 of them (6 months of frump to fab) and try something new, clear out the old, take care of myself, better myself, improve myself - something every day.
So here goes
Day 1 - I had a very good healthy eating day in line with Slimming World
I haven't drunk as much water as I should but its only day 1, I will increase my water intake tomorrow! I have a fair bit of weight to loose but I am a regular at the gym so that should help. I am looking forward to this challenge with excitement and a big smile on my face. I want to be a changed women in 6 months time!!Love a charity shop bargain0 -

callisto, I just love that dress. Personally, I wouldn't wear a vest underneath but would invest in a really good bra and make the dress look as good as it does on the website. You should be able to get black patent or suede court shoes with a lowish heel. There are plenty about, just look at the M&S website for example. Then a small bag, either clutch or a small shoulder bag would look good. It could be a 'leather' one but an evening type in satin or something would be fine. I don't like shrugs myself but a pashmina would suit and be a bit more dressy IMO.
LW, totally agree with inazuma, your posts are great:T I'm so glad you feel confident on here.
I've given some thought to my resolutions. They are a bit ongoing so won't all be sorted by Summer Solstice but if I can make a good start, I'll be happy. They are all on top of my exisiting acheivements which are:- Healthy Eating to maintain target weight
- continue existing make up and pampering routines
- ensure I have Alcohol Free days (4?) every week.
Health and Beauty- Try and walk the equivalent of 30 mins each day
- sort out my wardrobe (again!) and aim to wear more of my clothes. Supplement with some new things after visit to Debenhams personal shopper (plan to leave that 'til after sales are over)
- work on perfecting some eye make up looks for day and evening.
- take up some sewing/knitting projects. Have patchwork that I've not done anything with, no knitting since last winter etc etc
- spend more time reading/learning. I'm going to start with reading through lots of books I already have, seem only to read on holiday these days
- compile list of places I fancy for holidays/days out and work through them
- various bits of decorating
- deep clean each room on a rota basis (did this last year but fell by the wayside:o) Can't wait to take Christmas decs down and start this tomorrow!
- clear out EVERY cupboard and drawer in the house!!! I'm going to do a room at a time and started with a kitchen cupboard today. There's so much rubbish that I just don't need to keep or forgot I even had
- redesign garden. DH is keen too but we have different ideas of what we want!
- Keep weekly meal plans for reference and variety (currently I throw them away at end of week) and add in some new recipes.

Love the post annem, may I ask were these obseravations from you looking around the pub or did you have these conversations with mates? It's just that I love 'people watching' and I think it's a great way to find looks you like or those you wouldn't dream of copying!0 -
Well I'm on a mission today! I've been decluttering and sorting since lunch time! So far I've gone through 3 sacks of recycling and 2 large black sacks and I'm still going! I have stopped for the odd tea break too!
I pulled all my wardrobe out, bin some items and organised it all and now I'm feeling ready to start the year! Tomorrow is pamper myself day!

:Tmaman, thanks for that, must say your "to do" list could be mine, in fact i think i will cut and paste it for my own personal use!!
as for the observations, mostly mine i thought, but it was also watching other peoples reactions! eg there was a girl in a particularly tight red dress that had one of my friends sniggering every time she [STRIKE]waddled[/STRIKE]walked past, you could see what she had had for lunch! but there were some stunning 20ish girls who most of us would kill to look like looking bored to tears and what a surprise, all the young rakes ignored them (secret LOL)
and don't get me started on what some folks thought was NYE attire for a fee paying event, baggy denim jeans and denim shirt i wouldn't wear to clean the bathroom, and why, when you know it is going to be very hot would you wear a polo jumper with a woolly scarf and blazer, gawd i sound like a right moo:eek:! i'm not really and i'm not perfect either!
and as i said, there were size 20+ girls looking fabulous, well dressed with lovely faces and glossy hair, it really is all about being the best you can be and they were certainly proof!
people watching, pretty much the best fun there is ( after crafting!)
