yes...not through laziness....when i tested it earlier it only has a couple off buttons on the front....standby/open-close/play/stop....tried it with the nearest DVD (Disney of course :)) and it bbrrings up the first lannguage option...but theres no way to select the language and proceed to watch the DVD....tried it with a DVD that just 'starts' with no 'before film options/menu' and it fine, but for all other DVDs that have menus, it needs the remote to work.....unless you know something I dont?!!! :)

will get £28 from Argos when I take my new one back anyway, so wont be out of pocket really buying a remote :rotfl:

Haha lol no I didn't mean you might be lazy( I am! ) if you needed a remote not being able to get up and down so easily. After I posted I did wonder actually if the buttons were on yours or not, but no sadly I'm not a technological genius:rotfl:so I guess you will need a remote!!

Not too painful an outlay after the 50p player....maybe there will be a dtd opportunity on universal remotes....wouldn't that be sweet!:T

I know how you feel and I take tramadol too - have you tried lying on your right side, with left leg bend and knee on a cushion/pillow to keep it level so it does not pull on the nerve in your hip area?

Can you describe this annoying pain? I get sciatica (a slipped disc) sometimes and the sensation is a tingling/light spasming or feeling like my leg doesn't belong to me, very annoying rather than properly painful if you know what I mean. Though the sensation (or pain) you get from sciatica varies a lot from person to person as Mr 3dogs would attest!

If it sounds like that then avoid sitting for long periods and do some walking around (T's perhaps) to ease it but your GP would need to diagnose it to make sure. Sciatica is a very common complaint in the elderly though :rotfl:
