Lovely isn't it? And by the way OP, it's not "nature" for a dog to kill a cat, it's bad ownership and lack of training. If I were that cat's owner I wouldn't have the dog put to sleep, I'd have it rehomed to be trained properly and have you put to sleep. Disgusting.

Amazed me how someone could "brag" about being unable to care for the so called pets he had??

I have reported it to the MSE guides, but have had other messages thats its been reported more widely too :)

I'm sure there are people here who will think what I'm about to say is really mean, sorry but when I found out how some of these organisations work I changed my ways.

Many Charities share or sell their mailing list of 'benefactors' as it allows them to 'churn' the people who are willing to give into a new area. I'm sorry to say it's a psychological fact that if you give me to one charity you're much more likely to also give to another one and they exploit this. Also a surprising large number of charities employ management teams who's senior managers are on either high 5 figure or 6 figure salaries. Many also employ professional collectors who in some instances retain up to 70% of the monies collected.

As a result I stopped giving money to charities years ago, I still give food (2/3 of my OEP haul went to a local Hostel) and my time (Christmas Day I've worked at homeless shelters helping prep lunch for over 15 years now) and 11 years ago I paid for a Childrens Ward in a hospital to be painted with Animal and Outdoor Scenes (but only on the condition that the person doing the painting did NOT identify me, even to the hospital, as I didn't then want to be pursued by other 'worthy' causes).

It's perhaps the same mindset as if I see someone living on the street I'll never give them cash, but I will buy them food - simplistically because I'm then certain what my contribution is being used for.

If you do give cash to a Charity check to see what percentage of their income goes directly to the work they do, find out how much the Chief Executive and Finance Director are getting paid, finally see if they employ professional collection or sales firms.

Giving hard earned money to a Charity is a generous and kind thing to do, it's heartbreaking to then later find out it may have been used for things you didn't know or expect.

I am going to look into this, I want 100% of my donation to go to the animals and the staff whom help them directly, not to some sales person on commission! TBH it is a standard mailing so HOPEFULLY it is legit and the money is going where it's needed!
This happened to one of the grandparents in our mum's and tots group, she's now the guardian of her grandchildren so struggling and had just worked out she could still afford to donate £5 a month to her favourite charity so phoned them to get her direct debit reduced and explained why. The lady she had a the phone told her to cancel the DD and she'd send out a new one for her to sign and return.
This happened and all was well until this time last year when she recieved a call from whatever call centre they used, the girl one the other end tried to make her feel so guilty for not upping her DD that she was left very upset.
She rang them back after going to the bank and cancelling the DD to tell them what she had done and again thety span a story to make her feel guilty for stopping the donation that she cracked up and told them that it was because of them that the charity would no long be getting her DD. She still donates but now goes into a shop to do this.

I think it's a good way to put people off regularly supporting a charity and also think that asking for a set DD amount and no less puts a lot of people off too because some can't afford to give £10 or £20 each month away but may be able to give £5 but when they phone to do this they're told the minimum is £X and no less:eek:
You'd think that they'd be happy with any donation than none

TBH over the RSPCA tactics I have often felt so resentful I've considered stopping donating to them altogether, but the good they do with the animals always stops me. I support Cats protection and Cancer Research as well, neither of them hound *ahem* me like this!

I guess as excited as my bf when I showed him a bag full of andrex rolls jumping with joy  he looked at me like '!!!!!! it's toilet paper!!!' :rotfl: they will never get it will they? :rotfl:
however I'm not gonna push my luck with the fly catchers!

I gave up showing my OH my 1p finds but when his dad was around before Christmas we were chatting and he had not realised that one of the kids old pirate toy chests was full of my treasure. All the 1p Halloween sweets from Ts, 10p ones from Sainsbobs and Wine gums!! He was genuinely shocked as when he had been walking past it each day on the middle landing of the stairs he thought it was full of books as it was that heavy. But he could not resist in getting down and showing off my stash, so I think even though he moans he is secretly pleased with my bargain hunting. He did take a OEL receipt into work, one that went from £60ish to 33p. ;)

Has anyone noticed that each Andrex on the go has a puppy token on the back, can't see a code so I guess they will have to be used seperately? Does anyone know? TIA

That's the way they all should be

It really angers me when I hear from some of our pensioners in the community centre telling us all about the calls they get just because they've donated now or in the past, not to mention the letters they get. We've told them not to open them and bring them to us so we can deal with it. A lot of the charities will stop sending stuff after we've rang but others just continue to send things

Regarding dog charities, my neighbour was very active with fundraising, shaking tins, doing rallies etc for over 20 years.
She only took rescue dogs and some were very hard to handle but she persevered.
Last year she heard that one of the top people ( I think president) had lost his dog and only wanted a puppy. She tried to get him a rescue but he wouldn't have it and imported one from southern ireland as he wanted a docked tail......He also takes "expenses" for going to fundraisers.
Needless to say she has finished with that charity.
