  • Happy Shiny New Diary El,

Good Luck with the goals for 2012 - you've done a fab job of it during 2011 considering everything going on :A

I've also been pondering whether to continue with my current one, or start a new diary ... I've got quite a few changes to make to the SOA posts etc and not sure if they'll be picked up on if I just change them ... hmmm decisions decisions :o

thanks gha ... did you decide whether to start a new one or not ?

well its been some new year already ... we lost the back fence and the roof from the shed due to the very high winds ... not sure if the roof is intact or not as we cant see it ( we have a weird shaped roof) so they will need to be repaired/replaced... other personal stuff as well but nothing that cant be dealt with

got a cheaque for £12.95 for a new mobile phone to use whilst mine is being fixed (again) so that has been put into the bank

still looking for a new job ... still nothing going :(

money wise it is gonna be a really tight month this month as i will be down those days wages when i was off work ... so if i come on moaning you know why lol ...

    hope everyone is good
  • Bah about the fence & shed roof El, we've been lucky around here ... just the odd branch / tree or ten to circumnavigate :rotfl:

Totally sympathise with the belt tightening month feeling, think January is like that at the best of times .. always seems a waaaaay longer month than any other waiting for payday - Pasta is going to be a popular dish for us I think :o

Yep, in the end I decided to go with a shiny new creation here
It was logical in the end, not to mention I always find full calendar years easier to measure :o

Think December / January always seems to be a quiet time on the job front El, hopefully it will start to pick up a bit again in a couple of weeks :A

thanks Angel .. fingers crossed something turns up soonish ... loving the new diary btw

well the wind got up again last night ... i thought the shed was a gonner but it still seems to be standing ... the polytunnel is doing well with standing up to the wind ... spent a wee while in it the other day just weeding putting new soil on the beds and generally tidying up , cant do any work outside just now as its mental weather were having

money wise ... yikes ... over xmas and the new year hubby and i went out for a pizza hut ... it cost £22 which is alot ( but it was our first night out in two week... i know cause i keep checking :) ) so that has went on the visa :( .. the extra money i will have from the two free months of council tax will be used to pay it ( along with other extra spends that have happened)

i have been looking into transferring our visa's to a new 0% apr one ... the best one for our needs is the 16month 0% one ... i am hoping this is the last time i will ever have to transfer to a new 0% rate as once the visa debt has gone it aint coming back ( will need to stop going to places like pizza hut with a visa though ... must work harder on this :( ) i just cant decide whether to transfer this just now or wait till March ... i would rather wait till March as i will pay less money in transfer fees ... but i am not sure if the deal will still be available in March ... it could be just a January type offer ...

dotty Aunty Jean is still in hospital ... thats been 4 months and counting ... but there has been some movement .. she had another op on friday and so far things are looking good :) she should be out within the next few weeks ( as soon as social services get a package in place)

other than that things are just ticking along :)

    Hello everyone ,

well todays finacial quandry ... i checked online banking and noticed that the amount of interest we got paid in our current accounts was the total sum of £0 ...now dont get me wrong ... its not like we have thousands sitting languishing in the accounts we dont ... we transfer the money that is required for the bills ... which slowly throughout the month goes ... but it takes all month ... so we can start off on pay day with a lot and slowly it dissapears .. taking the full month to go ( roughly £2500 goes out throughout the month)

so anyway i wasnt expecting much ... maybe a whole £5 or something ... but i wasnt expecting £0 either ... the upshot is were thinking of moving current accounts ... the halifax £5 reward a month looks good ... if i open two accounts .. one in hubbys name one in mine then we both get £5 a month making £120 a year ... which is better than £0

so ... i looked on the bank accounts board and noticed that someone has opened one of these accounts but had 10 credit checks done on them ... now i plan on going for a new 0% credit card ... ( still trying to decide when) i'm not worried about the credit checks as we are a good credit risk ( which is a scary thought in itself) but i am concerned about the amount of checks ... it cant look good if there are 10 credit checks done then a company recieve an application for a credit card ( if that makes sense)

i'm sitting here wondering and trying to decide ... should i go for applying for these current accounts just now , knowing that i am going to try and go for a new credit card soon ? or would i be better going for the credit card first ... then once that has been sorted go for the current accounts? should i go for the credit card just now ? or should i wait till March?
