Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Lou & all who follow
Housework today & more housework & yet more housework, my favourite occupation, not.
I need to wash the kitchen floor, sweep the stairs & tidy the living room at the very least, will I get it done? I'm not taking bets, lol.
Kettles boiled, time for a cuppa.
I'll be back later.
Hugs Hester

Once in royal David's city
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little Child :rudolf:

No more work for me til 5th jan :j
Why can't I sleep past 4.30am?
Yesterday was the longest day at work EVER
I had about half an hour of paperwork, helped a customer choose a rug, then nothing. I cleaned up the computer then defragged it. Made endless cups of tea and even got the hoover out - and I hate hoovering at work, it takes about two hours. Spent some time on FB, sewed cotton through the chocolates coins for the tree and messed about with some photos of people, they now have baubles for earrings and Christmas hats
The bosses weren't at work but somehow we all ended up at their house by 6pm to raid the Stella stash
Camelot, I know how you feel. Master tru isn't quite as bad, but he does seem to be under some sort of spell cast by his girlfriend :undecided
We have to nip to Screwfix for Master tru's drill bits, Matalan for underwear and socks, then Morrison's for a bit of shopping. We're going round to FIL's, where he'll ask us to make him a cup of tea. We'll sit there for half an hour while he carries on watching telly
then we'll give up and come home. Bulletproof0 -

Morning everyone
Watched the Military Awards last night, how humbling and completely selfless are our forces personnel? Makes me incredibly proud to be British and that our forces do their job so effectively to protect us all. They show such courage and commitment and I'd like to wish them all and their friends and families a very Merry Christmas, and Happy and Healthy New Year, stay safe and we're all thinking of those who paid the ultimate price x :A
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Wet underfoot here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Got up early as woke up and I'm enjoying the peace and lots of caffeine before the boys surface.
Woo hoo, finished work yesterday for the xmas break, work was really quiet, on the way home had to go past MrT and the car park wasn't packed so decided to call in and do what shopping I needed so I won't be doing any more food shopping this side of xmas (except collecting fresh meat hamper and fruit and veg order already ordered and paid for but this is from local butcher and green grocers). :T
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms etc - had some bits in the fridge that needed using up, tonight it will be steak pie for the menfolk and fish for me. I'm going to visit a friend this morning to take the prezzies for her household, will have a coffee and a chat - she has an appointment this afternoon so will just stop and hour or so, and this afternoon will be going to SIL to take nephews prezzie - won't stop too long there as have jobs to do here. Did get the oven cleaner in the oven last night before I went to bed so will be sorting that shortly, and de-scaled the kettle too, Monday evening ran a cleaning cycle through the DW - oh, and I got the xmas cake iced - really pleased with how it's turned out just hope it tastes ok! - can cross those jobs off my to do list. I will be doing just the normal washing, drying and ironing and housework today and tomorrow.
My new phone arrived yesterday, not really sure whether I'm going to get on with it ok, why are there so few operating instructions with these things nowadays? Took me 15 minutes to get the back off to put in the SIM and take protective cover off the battery, then needed to charge it before I used it plugged it all in and thought connections were a bit flimsy - turns out that the charger is a put in and turn and this locks charger into place and phone starts to charge - didn't do this last night - so hasn't actually charged at all - so now have it plugged in properly and it's now charging .................. somehow think this is going to be a steep learning curve!!
:o Have just noticed on the quick guide that I can go on website and get the full user guide, think that's going to be a worthwhile exercise! It's going to be a case of having to get on with it because I got a good deal and I've taken a 24 month contract ......
Time to get a shower and then clean the cleaner out of the oven... deep joy!
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all
Have woken up this morning more stressed than ever about this bloomin' car repair bill. Have checked bank and it is payday today but by the time the garage take their £360 then I'm officially skint until the end of January.
Ah well, I shall just have to be more os than ever for the next 6 weeks. I'll be on here for tips to make everything that I have go further.
I did have lots of plans today - a few appointments in town - but as I have no car, everything is cancelled and housework becomes today's priority. Particularly the bathroom.
Still need to finish wrapping the kids presents as well.
Have a good day everyone.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Good Morning All. Lots of hours rattling a collection tin for rotary lie ahead for today....my toes feel cold just thinking about it! Am now adding to my last minute shopping list, but not really too much. Feeling so tired, but like otheres here just can't sleep. Hester, I'm with you regarding housework - horrid occupation!! Need to get BM on at some point - just need to check that someone will be around when it finishes. WM already on so at least all the clothes will be clean - but the ironing basket is still overflowing nicely! Hot dogs for lunch, spag bol for supper I think.
Hope you all have a good day - and ((HUGS)) to all feeling low, poorly or sad.Resolution:

Yet another busy day here. It's my last one and then I am freeeeee!
Have a friend popping round this morning with her kids and then my niece and nephew are coming round to play this afternoon.
Not much else going on aside from me drinking lots and lots of coffee
No idea what's tea yet
Hugs and spoons all round.
Dazi thinking of you today, hope your dad has a great send off xxxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
