Does the oven have a 13A plug, or is it one that needs to be wired in to a 16A supply?

I'd imagine it would need to be wired into a spur on the 30 amp ring main, or if it's a double oven it will be wired into the 30 amp cooker socket. Both officially not DIY.

Provided that the spur socket is already fitted, then under the new "Part P" regulations, replacing a cooker is a non notifiable job and can be carried out by the householder.

This was pretty much my point :)

I also take jo'jos point that some of the certified "specialists" that i've seen are in fact as dangerous, if not more so than, a none competent DIYer.

So what does the warranty say?

In my cooker's warranty thing, it says this:
-Repairs required as a result of unauthorised repair or inexpert installation that fails to meet the requirements contained in the user instruction book
    - Professional installation by a qualified Electrical Domestic Appliance Installer is recommended for all Washing machines, dishwashers, electric cookers and cooker hoods
    - Gas Cookers must only be installed by a Gas Safe registered gas installer.

And in the installation requirements, rather paradoxically:
For the warranty to be valid, the appliance must be installed by a qualified person in accordance with current regulations.

    So what's on yours? (Mine's a Flavel/Beko)

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

But does it say that it must be Currys that fit the equipment?

Given that it was purchased elsewhere, you'd hope not

Which has been my argument to the very point. No manufacturer will have a term included in their warranties that Currys must install the ovens they sell.
