New oven has no warranty?

You are talking (to use your words) out of your bottom again Flyboy.
I'll leave you to it, and all the other threads you consistantly ruin.
Merry Christmas to you.
Go on then, tell us where I am incorrect.
The OP states that Currys have told them that the manufacturer's warranty would be void if Currys do not fit the goods. As we can all be pretty damn certain there is no such warranty term, from any manufacturer, that would insist that Currys fit the oven, Currys are therefore attempting to vary the terms. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Clearly that discussion took place before any contract was formed.
Variation of a contract before it is formed is perfectly reasonable, and indeed legal.
You have not yet asked whether or not the employee has the right to do that though.
Now, if an attempt was made to vary the warranty terms after the contract was formed, that of course is a different matter.0 -
The OP states that they were offered a warranty, but that warranty would not be valid unless the retailer's fitter installed the thing.

I think you need to read the OP again, as well my posts on the subject of varying the terms of the warranty. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Here for a start. The OP states that Currys have told them that the manufacturer's warranty would be void if Currys do not fit the goods
It might well have been a warranty offered by Currys themselves.
The OP did not state anything about a manufacturers warranty. They told him he he didn't get their people to fit the oven then it would void the warrantyI think you need to read the OP again, as well my posts on the subject of varying the terms of the warranty
How do you know that the requirement for a Currys installer was not written into the warranty paperwork so it was not a variation?I swear you are only on this thread to argue that black is white.0 -

Did you like that expression (that I have used previously about YOU) so much you decided to steal it?

I think I was right in my assessment of your character. :wall:
I don't believe I have to quote the same extract as you, but it seems necessary for you to understand it.they told him if he didn't get there people to fit it the oven has no warranty!
It is inconceivable that Currys would sell an oven without a manufacturer's warranty. Their exposure to SOGA claims would be commercially overwhelming. Ergo, if Currys were insisting that they fit it, or the warranty would be void, is a blatant attempt to vary the terms of that warranty. Because there is not a manufacturer's warranty out there what would specifically say that it would be void if Currys did not fit it.I will ask again as you seem to have ignored it earlier.
How do you know that the requirement for a Currys installer was not written into the warranty paperwork so it was not a variation?
Are you that devoid of common sense to assume that there would be a manufacturer that would include a term for Currys to install the oven.No. I am on this thread in an attempt to stop wannabe consumer rights experts such as yourself from posting incorrect "facts", (as you have done many times in the past), and then failing to provide any proof other than your opinion.
What utter tosh. You are just on this thread solely to cause an argument. You ignore common sense and try to pretend you are ignorant of standard practices. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Does the oven have a 13A plug, or is it one that needs to be wired in to a 16A supply?0
-
Assuming a house with modern electrics just how "trained" do you need to be to plug it in?
There are some instances, where i'd agree a competent, professional installation should form part of the warranty, but to suggest plugging in an oven would invalidate a warranty currys have got to be having a laugh?
More competent than the builders who did this house. As the huge bangs ultimately revealed.
Power cable not heatproof plastic. Plastic melted. Big bang one.
Cable replaced. Assumed that was all.
Oven wires connected as if in a three pin plug, not the way stipulated on the oven. So neutral and live were switched round. BIG BIG BIG BANG two.
BIG BIG BIG BANG two took out the entire consumer unit. Because the wires hadn't been connected, just poked in the general direction of the terminals. Fortunately, the earth wire had just managed to reach the unsecured terminal at the time of big bang one or the entire oven would have potentially been live.
Any fool is capable of connecting it properly - but only if the connections are carefully checked and they don't blithely assume it's just the same as a three pin plug.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
